BISHOP GRACIDA AND JIMMY BRESLIN ON BLAME

Disasters bring out the best in some people and the worst in others.

Hurricane Katrina was no exception.

Snide Bush bashers like Newsday's Jimmy Breslin eagerly blamed the Bush administration AND racism!

Sensible Rene Henry Gracida, Bishop Emeritus of Corpus Christi, Texas, shared facts people gulled by Breslin need to know about governmental response to disasters.

Breslin's article is titled "While Bush fiddles, New Orleans dies."Breslin's subtle message: President Bush is like the hedonistic Roman Emperor Nero.

No sale! America is a federal republic, and the President of the United States is NOT akin to a Roman emperor.

Bishop Gracida's simple title: "Don't Blame President Bush".

Because President Bush is NOT responsible for hurricanes or the failure of local authorities to prepare properly for them.

Breslin was beside himself (which is not a good place to be):"This is a review of the performance of George W. Bush in tight times in this nation. It might explain the single solitary most catastrophic collapse of American government in all of our times. Mark ye well. This was the week when we turned a major American city into Haiti, and racism put its hand out and started to choke a nation, and it may not let go."With the water coming from the sky and the bottom of the sea, driving with such ferocity that a major American city, New Orleans, followed its face into the water, George W. Bush was at North Island in Coronado, Calif., speaking to a blindingly white audience of 9,000 sailors in uniform."

Newsflashes for Breslin:

President Bush is the Commander-in-Chief and speaking to sailors is an honor to which he was deemed entitled by the voters. Being personally present for hurricanes is not what a President is expected to do, or what the Secret Service or anyone concerned with the President's safety would consider sensible.

The Mayor of New Orleans is a political hack who failed the people of New Orleans miserably by not properly preparing and is desperately trying to divert attention by using the Bush administration as a scapegoat, with major help from major media, who are loathe to blame the local authorities in a predominantly black city, regardless of the facts.

BUT FOR THE PERSON INTERVENTIONOF PRESIDENT BUSH, THE DEATH TOLL WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH HIGHER! For the first time in history, New Orleans issued a mandatory evacuation order. Louisiana's Democrat Governor, Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the Mayor of New Orleans, at a news conference, announced that President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation.

  1. I don't think anyone realized how devastating this tornado was going to be. It's a shame that people are blaming our President, because it's obvious that he is deeply concerned and would have done something quicker if local officials had allowed him to do so.

  2. The important thing is that everyone is trying to help.

The liberal media incorrectly tried to blame the President for this one again.
