LENTEN MEDITATION -- Tuesday, Third week in Lent

"I forgave your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant as I had pity on you?"
~ Matthew 18

"Without reserve give yourself over with total confidence to the mercy of God, whose personification, by the will of God is the Immaculata. Trust yourself in nothing; be careful, and confide in her without limit, and at every moment or occasion of sin turn to her as a child to its mother and you will never fall."

~ St. Maximillian Marie Kolbe

  1. St. Max is one of my favorite saints. He had such a strong devotion to Out Lady.

  2. He is one of my favorites, too. Have you been to his shrine at Marytown in Libertyville?

  3. No. What is that like?

  4. It's beautiful! On the grounds, there are six shrines for prayer and meditation including a statue of St. Maximilian Kolbe outside front of the main entrance area. Inside there is a beautiful perpetual adoation chapel. There is also a special area which depicts the story of St. Max's life in photos and in art. It's very moving!

I have been there for retreat before and also to visit for their summer festival. It's is run by the Conventual Franciscans -- the same order as St. Max. My former spiritual director lives and works there. He is a real sweetheart as are the other brothers and priests there. They have that joyful Franciscan spirit. Oh, and of course there is a book and gift shop, too. I spent much of my time in there as well as in Eucharistic Adoration.

    God bless,
    Jean
