Father Frank Pavone: "The Time to Mobilize is Now."

"The time to mobilize is now." This is the message of Father Frank Pavone, Director of Priests for Life in his homily today on EWTN.

He quoted from the Second Vatican Council document PASTORAL CONSTITUTION ON THE CHURCH IN THE MODERN WORLD GAUDIUM ET SPES which states, "at all times and in all places, the Church should have true freedom to preach the faith, to teach her social doctrine, to exercise her role freely among men, and also to pass moral judgment in those matters which regard public order when the fundamental rights of a person or the salvation of souls require it. " This is true even in matters related to politics, Father Pavone added.

Jesus is calling each of us to make a change in the world. God takes up residence in our bodies and souls and uses each of us to be advocates, just as the Holy Spirit is an Advocate. The Holy Spirit as the Advocate fills us and calls us to renew the face of the earth. The most fundamental right of man is the right to life, which we are called to uphold.

We can do this by mobilizing now as a team in preparing for the November elections. Fr. Frank urges us all to go to his website and volunteer for one or more of the following activities:

Composing letters to the editor of your local newspaper
Emailing or calling people to encourage them take specific action Distributing literature "door to door"
Conducting a Voter Registration Sunday by staffing a table at the back of Church and helping people who want to fill out the forms
Distributing Priests for Life information among friends or Church groups
Giving a brief talk in a Church after Communion, with the pastor’s permission
Meeting with your pastor to inform him about resources he can use to promote political responsibility
Organizing special events to bring attention to the election
Driving people to the polls on Election Day
Calling and emailing people on Election Day to remind them to vote

We each cast one vote, but we can each mobilize hundreds of votes. Tens of millions of lives depend on it.
