Pope Exhorts Prayers for Vocations
May. 08 (CWNews.com) - Having ordained 15 priests earlier in the day, Pope Benedict XVI described a priest's ministry as "irreplaceable" during his Sunday audience on May 7.
On the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, the Holy Father noted that priests are lacking in some places. "God continues to call," he said; the Church needs prayers that young men will answer that call.
In the same way, the Church needs religious to hear the call to that live, "entirely dedicated to God in contemplation and prayer, while serving our brothers and sisters, especially the weakest and poorest." Further, lay men and women should recognize that "Christian marriage is also a vocation to sanctity," he said.
