SMITHSONIAN LINKED TO ANTI-CATHOLICISM

May 31, 2006 Catholic League president Bill Donohue wrote a letter today to the members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution, the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the Smithsonian magazine and the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. His letter, available here, concerns an article in the June edition of the Smithsonian by James Carroll titled, “Who Was Mary Magdalene?”

  1. Some of the history displays there long ago were IMHO, anti-Catholic several years back.... so, again, IMHO, this does not surprise me in the least. Their version of Columbus, of the Spaniards 'forcing conversion', etc way back then spoke volumes. And even way back then, I wondered how many left their institution believing the slanted history lesson given. The message was clear to me and to my family... I am sure it was clear to anyone who came in.
