Quick Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest is definitely not what I expected it to be. First, the movie has characters who are really despicable looking and acting. It is more like a cult horror movie or freaky Halloween show meant to sicken its viewers. The characters are not the least bit believable. The acting was terrible. Second, it is very difficult to understand the dialogue due to overdone phony accents. Third, it is loaded with empty action scenes that don't seem to connect. Fourth, with all its bizarre semi-human, semi-monster characters, it is more like your worst nightmare. Fifth, all the dizzying craziness of this action - packed movie is like a nauseating roller coaster ride that you want to get off of and never return to again. Sixth, the ending leaves you hanging and wandering why you exposed yourself to something so dreadful in the first place.

The movie's only saving grace is Johnny Depp, who is funny at times, but not quite funny enough to qualify this movie as a comedy.

If you like long, non-stop action, nonsensical freaky cult horror movies, definitely go see Prirates of the Caribbean. I don't and this was the worst movie I have seen all year!

I give it a * out of *****. Thumbs way down. Don't waste your money on this movie!

Special effects make Pirates hard to watch

  1. The first Pirates of the Caribbean was great in every way, the best part of the other two was the special effects… the question now is, if they come out with a fourth, will it maintain the quality of the first?
