ATTEMPT TO CENSOR 9/11 FILM OKAY BY PUNDITS

The reaction to the ABC film, “The Path to 9/11,” is the subject of the following remarks by Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“When ‘The Da Vinci Code’ was in production, the Catholic League raised a red flag, the result of which was that we were denounced for criticizing a film before we had seen it. When we asked Ron Howard to put a disclaimer in the movie, we were condemned for disrespecting his artistic liberties. To top it off, we were told to lighten up—‘it’s just a movie.’ But when everyone from Bill Clinton to the more than 100,000 protesters garnered by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) demand that ABC cancel ‘The Path to 9/11,’ no one denounces them for criticizing a movie they haven’t seen. Moreover, they suffer no condemnation for tampering with artistic liberties. And no one tells them to lighten up—the refrain, ‘it’s just a movie,’ is nowhere heard.

“The double standard is not the most upsetting aspect of this fiasco. Censorship is. Bill Clinton and the DNC’s troops have every right to complain, but sitting government officials are a different animal altogether. The letter sent to Robert Iger, president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, by the senate Democratic leadership shows contempt for the First Amendment: they are not registering a complaint—they are demanding that the film be cancelled.

“Senator Harry Reid, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Senator Charles Schumer and Senator Byron Dorgan should be censured from the senate floor for their attempt to censor ‘The Path to 9/11.’ In their letter of September 7, they literally invoke a federal law, the Communications Act of 1934, warning ABC that their ‘free broadcast license’ is predicated on acting responsibly. Are they the new tribunal? And in vintage McCarthyite fashion, they even go so far as to say that the film ‘raises serious questions about the motivations of its creators.’ Maybe a special prosecutor can be appointed to discover what they are.

“The failure on the part of media commentators to express outrage over this abuse of power is the real story behind ‘The Path to 9/11."



My Comments:

Very interesting! I don't want to miss this -- with all the complaining he's doing, I am sure Clinton is afraid that the truth will come out about him. We all know that if it weren't for Bill's "zipper problems" and a just a few other "minor" immoral habits that 9-11 would never have taken place, so your reputation as the worst President in history can't be the problem. Perhaps there's some new information that the public isn't already aware of that will be revealed and put a damper on Hillary's ambitions to run in the next election. Perhaps the cameras can come up with something that will not only remove pounds and inches from the middle like it did for Katie Couric, but that will alter idiotic and grotesque facial expressions and remove "evil eye" from the subject's photos. So that is the concern - yes, now I understand,
Bill -- high definition TV reveals all.


Here's an idea for you, Bill. Don't let her watch the show and don't you watch it either. Why don't the two of you meet with Fr. Frank Pavone for the weekend, donate all the money you have stolen from the American people to his new order of priests,
to crisis pregnancy centers and to STOPP, and spend the rest of your lives doing Penance for your sins? (That is AFTER you've gone to Confession, of course.)

Today is the feast of Saint Michael de Sanctis, also known as St. Michael of the Saints, a Spanish Discalced Trinitarian priest, the patron of cancer patients. Michael Argemir was born on September 29, 1591 at Vic, Catalonia, Spain. At age 6, he told his parents that he planned to become a monk and began modeling his life after Saint Francis of Assisi. Michael’s parents died when he was about ten years old. He then served as an apprentice with a local merchant. During this apprenticeship, he continued his fervent devotion to the Lord, especially to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The saint of the day for August 31 is St. Raymond Nonnatus. He is the patron of expectant mothers, midwives, obstetricians, infertile couples, and newborn babies. Raymond was born at Portella, Catalonia, Spain in 1204, the son of wealthy parents. He was delivered by cesarean section when his mother died in childbirth. Hence his name non natus (not born). In his childhood, he seemed to find pleasure only in his devotions and serious duties. His father, sensing that Raymond was drawn to religious life, ordered him to manage one of the family farms. Raymond readily obeyed but spent his time with the shepherds and workers, studying and praying until his father abandoned the idea of making his son a worldly success. Raymond later joined the the Order of Our Lady of Mercy or the Mercederians, which was founded by St. Peter Nolasco, who devoted to ransoming Christians captured by the Moors.
