One of Brooker's MSU professors, Frank G. Kauffman, assigned to his students a project promoting homosexual foster homes and adoption. The project required the entire class to write and individually sign a letter to the Missouri Legislature in support of homosexual adoption, a letter Brooker refused to sign due to her religious objections. How can they possibly infringe on her rights this way and expect to get away with it? I suppose that because she is a Christian she has no rights. It's odd that diversity is such an important aspect of our society, but when it comes to Christians, we are expected to imitate secular society and our religious beliefs are not tolerated nor are they respected. I also thought the purpose of a university was to promote independent thinking, not to make clones out of everyone! I am praying that she wins this lawsuit.
“These are not tenets of our ‘faith’ which we are defending,” he said, adding to the defense of marriage, the protection of all human life from conception to natural death, and the abolition of the death penalty. “They are universal truths, based on reason alone.
“They are based on the fact that every human person has an unsurpassed dignity; upon the fact that every human being is sacred from the moment from conception to natural death,” he continued. “Otherwise nothing else we do to care for other human beings makes any sense. This is a truth of reason; it is true for every human being.” [More]
My Comments: I like the way Bishop Robert Morlino explains this and it is wonderful that our Bishops are speaking out more on pro-life issues. Wisconsin residents really need to hear this, as do the rest of us throughout the world.

Born in Swabia, Germany, St. Wolfgang studied at Reichenau under the Benedictines and at Wurzburg before serving as a teacher in the cathedral school of Trier. He soon entered the Benedictines at Einsiedeln (964) and was appointed head of the monastery school, receiving ordination in 971. He then set out with a group of monks to preach among the Magyars of Hungary, but the following year (972) was named bishop of Regensburg by Emperor Otto II (r. 973-983).
As bishop, he distinguished himself brilliantly for his reforming zeal and his skills as a statesman. He brought the clergy of the diocese into his reforms, restored monasteries, promoted education, preached enthusiastically, and was renowned for his charity and aid to the poor, receiving the title Eleemosynarius Major (Grand Almoner). He also served as tutor to Emperor Henry II (r. 1014-1024) while he was still king. Wolfgang died at the village of Pupping in upper Austria, on October 31, 994.
He was canonized in 1052 by Pope St. Leo IX (r. 1049-1054).

Candidates for Attorney General in Kansas
Democrat Paul Morrison
Pro-death* -- Abortion
Oppose --Require abortion clinics to provide the same medical documents that ALL other medical clinics provide to law enforcement agencies.
Pro-life -- Abortion
Support -- Require abortion clinics to provide the same medical documents that ALL other medical clinics provide to law enforcement agencies.
Oppose -- Reduce Sentences for violent criminals (murderers, rapists, etc.)
* Kansans for Life uses the term "pro-choice". I have used the term pro-death, which is synonmous with pro-choice, as the child has no choice or rights, but is sentenced to death. The pro-death advocate the murder of the unborn child, who is a living, growing developing human being.

Special Report: What The Secular Press Won't Tell You about “Catholic” Paul Morrison, Attorney General Candidate in Kansas
Morrison, 51, joined the district attorney's office shortly after graduating from the Washburn University School of Law in 1980. He was an assistant district attorney under Dennis Moore until 1989, when Morrison took over the top spot. He is now a U.S. congressman. Morrison was unopposed in his 2004 re-election bid. He would not be up for re-election until 2008. Morrison, a pro-abortion supporter who recently switched parties to run against pro-life incumbent Republican Attorney General Phill Kline.
The Information that the Press Has Been Attempting to Hide or Cover up:
Morrison has been accepting "blood money" from late-term abortionist George Tiller for his campaign.
Operation Rescue has confirmed this, learning of the details through the investigation and research of Kansas blogger Meadowlark.
Morrison was charged with sexual harassment and later fired the person who filed the harassment suit. See below.
Megan from the Megan & Raubin show at WIBW AM 580 in Topeka interviewed the alleged victim Kelly Summerlin today. That interview is now online. Click here for the MP3 links to listen to Kelly Summerlin, in her own words.
Why did Morrison switch parties? To obtain campaign money from late-term abortionist George Tiller. What does Tiller get out of this? Morrision will not investigate Tiller - he will simply look the other way and allow Tiller to continue to do his baby killing and to hurt, maim, and kill women as he has always done in the past. Yes, he has gotten away with murdering both babies and women. He refuses to disclose any information to the Attorney General's office so he can continue protecting the rapists and the sexual predators who abuse women and children.
How can pro-death Morrison, who is in cahoots with Tiller, possibly be Catholic?
As a Catholic, the most ethical thing for Morrison to do right now would be to drop out of the race, return Tiller's campaign money and go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation immediately to admit to and repent of his wrong doing. He is bringing scandal to himself, his family, and authentic Catholics everywhere. I know that the Archdiocese of Kansas City is dealing with a lot right now, so I would also like to ask your prayers, as Catholics, for both the leaders and the members in that diocese. I am sorry that Paul Morrison has brought even more scandal to your diocese. ("Catholic" Democratic candidate for pro-abortion Governor Kathleen Sebelius also resides in this diocese.) Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on them!
As for Kelly Sumerlin -- at the very least Morrison owes her a personal apology or if that's too hard for him to handle right now, how about starting with a letter of apology? You're in my prayers, Kelly. I believe that he harassed you and fired you because he felt guilty about his attraction to you. Your story is very real and very heart-breaking. Since he has not done it for you, I do it now. I am sorry, Kelly. What happened to you should have never taken place.
I have only one question to ask you, Paul Morrison:
"What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul in the process?" (Mark 8: 36)

In 2004, there was a lot of talk about whether pollsters were correct to use traditional "likely voter" screens in their samples or whether a less restrictive "registered voter" model would turn out to be more accurate given the massive increases in voter registrations we saw posted all over the country. There's not much discussion of the subject at all this cycle, perhaps due to the fact that it's a midterm and not a presidential year, but it comes to mind because of the conflicting signals in this election and trying to get at just who is going to vote Nov. 7.
In some ways there are two very different ways to look at what is going to happen on election day. 1) Republicans are in big trouble. The generic ballot shows a huge lead for Democrats (over 15%) with fewer than 10 days until the election.
Republicans in contested races are either trailing or polling in the mid-40's, and given the national mood toward the GOP as seen in the generic ballot, it is reasonable to assume that these races will break for the Democrats. With the close races tipping the Democrats way they are poised for substantial pickups in the House of 25 seats or more and perhaps the six seats needed for a majority in the Senate. [More]

The World Apostolate of Fatima is pleased to announce that the US Papal Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Pietro Sambi will be officiating the Mass for the renewal of our country’s Consecration to Our Patroness, the Immaculate Conception. All are invited to come to our nation’s Basilica, The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, in Washington, D.C., Saturday, November 11, 2006 at twelve noon.
All bishops have been invited to participate at the Mass. However due to scheduling conflicts, the bishops may sign the Consecration prayer for their dioceses, which has been provided to them by the World Apostolate of Fatima which will be offered at the Mass. The prayer for the Consecration was composed by our bishops in 1959 at the dedication ceremony of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception whereby they consecrated the country to Our Patroness, the Immaculate Conception. However by this consecration on November 11th our country will be Consecrated to the Heart of Our Patroness which is our apostolate’s primary mission for world peace.
During World War I His Eminence Francis Cardinal Bourne who was the Primate of England Consecrated England to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary which he claims and many others as well that it stopped World War I. The Armistice for World War I was signed after the Consecration on November 11th incidentally the same day which this Papal Nuncio chose to officiate the Mass for the United States.
During the 1720’s the Bubonic plague was rampant in Marseille, France. Out of the town’s population of ninety thousand, fifty thousand of them were dead in a matter of months. The Archbishop consecrated Marseille, France to the Sacred Heart to end the plague which it did without any medical means or vaccinations.
The Country, Portugal was Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary before World War II and was protected from the war. So let us with great joy and excitement proclaim this country’s renewal will happen for we are being obedient to the Fatima message. Amen.

The vote in favor of the pro-life bill capped an energetic lobbying campaign in which 300,000 Nicaraguans signed a petition in support of the legislation. But just prior to the vote, lawmakers received a message signed by the local representative of the UN Development Program, and by envoys of several donor nations, urging defeat of the measure.
The legislation was enthusiastically backed by the Catholic hierarchy. More surprisingly it was endorsed by leaders of the leftist Sandinista Party, which was looking to avoid a clash with the Church in the weeks leading up to November 5 presidential election, when former Sandinista President Daniel Ortega hopes to return to power.
The focus of the lobbying campaign now shifts to President Enrique Bolanos, who can sign the legislation into law.
If they can do it in Nicarauga, we can do it here, too! Hopefully, we will soon be celebrating a ban on abortion in South Dakota and in other areas of the United States. Pray and fast for an end to abortion in this country and a return to the restoration of a love for human life.
For the Holy Father and his special intentions.
For the repose of the soul of Regina LaVallee, a healthy 45 year-old young woman who died very unexpectedly this past weekend, and for peace and comfort for her family and friends.
For peace in our nation and world.
For an end to abortion and for an increased respect for human life.
For special graces for all the pro-lifers who are working so dilligently to spread the the Truth to bring the light of Christ into our culture of darkness.
For the conversion of all those who are entrapped in the culture of death.
For favorable election results and for the election of pro-life candidates.
That voters in MO will Vote "No" to Amendment 2.
That voters in South Dakota will vote to ban abortion there.
For an increase in vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life.
For a special intention.
For all previous prayer intentions.
Thanks for praying with me for these special intentions. If you have a special prayer need please email me at email@example.com and I will be happy to pray for your intentions. God bless you!
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee." The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee."
The wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee."
The husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me."
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says.........."HEBREWS"
God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece.

St Alphonsus, or Alonzo as he was called in Spain, was born at Segovia in Spain, on 12 July, 1531. From childhood he was devoted to our Lady, the Virgin Mary. He loved her as his mother. This childlike devotion to her was the mainspring of his sanctity.
Alphonsus was destined to be an example of Christian perfection in various states of life. On the death of his father in 1545, he was called home from Alcala where he was studying, by his mother burdened with the care of eleven young children, and though a boy of fourteen, he was placed at the head of the family business, which involved the buying and selling of wool. At the request of his mother, Alphonsus married a virtuous young woman called Maria Suarez. His married life of four years was marked with much suffering. His wife died leaving behind a son; his mother too died leaving behind her eleven children. He was about 32 years old when his mother died. He bore his cross willingly.
Alphonsus now started a more fervent life. He wanted to become a Jesuit. Twice he was refused admitance due to his old age, but Providence came to his rescue. The Provincial admitted him on January 6, 1571. At the age of thirty-seven, Alphonsus entered the Jesuit novitiate and after six months he was instructed to go to the Jesuit college of Montesion in Palma on the island of Majorca off the coast of Spain, to complete his novitiate training. Alphonsus did all the experiments of his novitiate life like the others. At the end of his novitiate, in 1573, he pronounced the three vows of religion. He did different kinds of work in the College and in 1579 he was made doorkeeper at the college and remained in this office until his death.
Nothing could be more insignificant in the eyes of the world and more monotonous in itself than such a life. By his deep interior spirit that animated him, the Brother transformed and ennobled it with his spirit of prayer, deep union with God, devotion to Mary, specially the Rosary, made him to live constantly in the presence of God even in the hardest times. His spirit of obedience was remarkable. His love for his fellowmen and his spirit of penance inspired many to follow him. People in high positions came to him in their troubles and difficulties to seek his advice. He exercised a powerful influence for good upon his own brethren, many of whore reached a high degree of sanctity. Of these the greatest was St Peter Clever, a fellow Jesuit, whom Alphonsus prepared to become the apostle of Slaves in the New World. Many owed their vocation to priesthood and religious life to him.
The year 1617, the last of his life, was for him one of great suffering. Thus ended a life of suffering, labor, love and service in the vineyard of the Lord on 31 October 1617; he died invoking in a loud and lingering voice the name of Jesus.
He was beatified in 1825, and was canonized by Pope Leo XIII on 15 January, 1888 together with his spiritual disciple, St Peter Claver.
Pope Benedict XVI, condemning kidnapping worldwide, said on Sunday he was praying for victims of abduction and their relatives everywhere.
"From several sides I am getting requests to intervene in favor of people who are victims of kidnappings in different countries around the world," the pontiff said at the end of his traditional Sunday blessing, speaking from his window overlooking St. Peter's Square.
"While I reiterate the firmest condemnation of this crime, I remember in prayer all the victims, their families and friends."
Crime syndicates in Italy's southern region of Calabria or Sardinia have been blamed for most of Italy's kidnappings. Sardinia's rugged inland is home to gangs of bandits who kidnap for ransom and in the past kept their victims for months or even years before they were rescued or ransomed.
As many as 60 people were kidnapped each year in Italy in the 1970s. Victims in some cases were mutilated, tied to cots, beaten and made to go hungry.
The most famous case was that of J. Paul Getty III, grandson of the late American oil billionaire, who was kidnapped in Rome in 1973. Getty's captors cut off one of his ears and mailed it to a newspaper in Rome. Getty, 16 at the time of his abduction, was freed after five months and payment of $2.7 million.
Abductions are frequent around the world, particularly in Iraq, where they are practically a daily occurrence and victims have included priests.
I am uniting my prayers with those of Our Holy Father and pray that the dignity and sacredness of each human life be respected and upheld.
1. While waiting in a long line at the check-out in a store, pass the time by making friends with the other customers. Start a conversation by telling them all the gory details of your last bout with the flu or your last surgery. This can be a wonderful form of entertainment, especially if you use descriptive language and authentic sound effects, moaning and groaning loudly.
2. To liven up your day, tell everyone you have a rare terminal disease - scelaramustidigitosis. You must not do any strenuous labor like housework or cooking for the rest of your life and you are allergic to everything but chocolate.
3. Have a Howard Dean Hog-Calling contest, but don’t be surprised if Hillary comes running.
4. Put large containers on your desk or work area at home marked "Tips" and "Treats". Be sure to put up a sign stating your flexible office hours, for example, 3-3:15 p.m.
5. When the telemarketers call invite them to dinner. Ask if they prefer liver or seafood cat food. Tell them you usually like to serve your guests Gravy Train but you just finished off a 25 lb. bag last night.
6. In the memo field of all your checks write "For drug smuggling".
7. Finish all your sentences with "Towanda!”
8. When someone asks you a question, make the most grotesque expression you can imagine and scream out, "We are the President!"
9. As often as possible in crowds, talk and sing to yourself out loud and answer every question you ask. Laugh hysterically when you are in an elevator or an enclosed area with a stranger.
10. Order a Diet Sugar-free Salsa Shake whenever you go out to eat.
11. Have a grape stomping contest! Dress up in old clothes as a gypsy or as an old Italian lady and invite your best friend. Get anything slimy, stomp on it, and throw it at one another. Yell at one another in Italian.
12. Sing along at The Opera and don't limit yourself to only female or male parts, hum along with the orchestra, too. Improvise, harmonize, and feel free to change the lyrics and the melody. Add a little rap, a little jazz, a little blues. Get out the harmonica and play along.
13. Attend a poetry recital and ask why the words don't rhyme. Tell the poet what a real poem should sound like by reciting "Jack and Jill went up the hill..."
14. Paint your face, cover your body with mosquito netting, and play African music while dancing to the beat of the drums.
15. On weekends, tell your family and friends that you don't have time for housework - You have to go mud wrestling with Thunder Bottom.
16. Have your friends and family address you by the name you had in your first life "Cleopatra" or "Queen Isabella".
17. When the envelope arrives from the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes scream at the top of your lungs "I won! I won!"
18. When leaving the movie theater following a scary movie, scream out, "Run for your lives, they're after us!" Better yet, scream this out during the movie - several times for effect.
19. Tell your children at the dinner table that due to the family budget and the current state of the economy, one of them must go out on the streets and beg for food. Dress them up as St. Francis of Assisi or as St. Clare and load them down with baskets.
20. And the final way to maintain a healthy level of sanity is... tell everyone you have inherited a fortune but just don't have a clue as to how you're going to spend all that money because you have decided to become a hermit.
Enjoy! This is great therapy!

Fidelis President Joseph Cella stated: “Bob Casey’s position on homosexual marriage is identical to that of the New Jersey Supreme Court and sets the stage for homosexual marriage to be legalized in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and many other states. Casey’s support of ‘same sex unions’ encourages activist courts like New Jersey to force legislatures into legalizing homosexual marriage.”
Casey’s stated position on the issue is: “I don't support gay marriage, but I also don't support a constitutional amendment banning it. That would be tremendously divisive. However, I do support same sex unions that would give gay couples all the rights, privileges and protections of marriage.”
Cella said: “Catholics in Pennsylvania should be shocked by Casey’s complicity and effective support for this attack on traditional marriage. The people of his own state want to ban homosexual marriage, while Casey supports the policies set forth by this activist court in the border state of New Jersey. Moreover, Casey is opposed to both the State and Federal marriage amendments that would prevent homosexual marriage in Pennsylvania. In fact, Casey has said on the record that if elected he would actually work to defeat the Federal Marriage amendment.”
A headline story in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer quoted Alicia Heath-Toby, one of the plaintiffs stating: “I’m certainly excited by the unanimous decision that we deserve equal rights. But to do anything less than marriage is not equal.” The Inquirer reported that homosexual activists and some legislators are already prepared to press for legalizing homosexual marriage.
“Bob Casey should say ‘I am prepared to do whatever it takes to protect the traditional institution of marriage for the people of Pennsylvania.’ Instead he sides with homosexual activists who view the New Jersey ruling as a stepping stone to homosexual marriage,” Cella stated.
Cella noted: “It is interesting to note that in June of 1995 former Governor Casey, the deceased father of the current candidate for the U.S. Senate, founded the Campaign for the American Family and the Fund for the American Family to protect the traditional family. Now his son has staked out a position on homosexual marriage that would tear down the traditional family.”
This is shocking! What a disappointment he must be for his family! He certainly has taken a stand that totally contradicts the strong family values and the high morals that his dad worked so hard to uphold.

Sts. Simon and Jude left the comfort and safety of their secure environment to go out into the world and to preach the gospel, converting many hearts. As simple farmers, they appear to be the least likely candidates to be called to perform such a great task for the Lord. However, the Lord chooses the simple and and the weak and empowers them with grace to do the "impossible." Let us pray that we, too, will be obedient to the Lord in the little tasks He calls us to do each day so that we, too, can carry out His will in our lives and draw others to Him -- an accomplishment which would otherwise be impossible without our permission and acceptance of the gift His grace.
St. Jude is the patron saint of hospital workers, desperate situations, and impossible causes.
St. Simon is the patron saint of sawers and tanners.
Father, You revealed yourself to us through the preaching of your apostles Simon and Jude. Help us follow their example, to draw others to You through our actions today, as we perform our daily duties and endeavor to carry out your holy will in our lives. Amen.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton indicated that she would not oppose efforts by Eliot Spitzer, the odds-on favorite to become the new governor, to enact a same-sex marriage law in New York.
I have one thing to say to New Yorkers:
(Sung to the tune of "She's too fat for me.")
"I don't want her, you can have her, she's too nuts for me,
I don't want her, you can have her, she's too weird for me."
"Take her, please, and keep her faraway from away from the Midwest." I wish Ralph Kramden were still around - he'd take her to the moon.
Hillary Fires Back
Responding to claims from her election opponent that she used to be ugly and had plastic surgery, Hillary Clinton said that she was "cute" in high school. But the only person who thought so was Mark Foley.
Senator Hillary Clinton's election challenger, John Spencer, told a reporter that Mrs. Clinton must have received "millions of dollars" in plastic surgery. Of course that's ridiculous, because if it were true those doctors would have a heck of a malpractice suit on their hands.

Frumentius convinced St. Athanasius to send missionaries from Alexandria, and was himself consecrated as the bishop of Ethiopia. He converted many people to Christianity before his death in 380. He is the patron of Ethiopia. His brother, Aedius, was also canonized.

ATLANTA - An influential government advisory panel voted Wednesday to recommend routine vaccines to protect older adults against shingles.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to recommend the vaccine for adults 60 and over. The committee's recommendations usually are accepted by federal health officials, and they influence insurance coverage for vaccinations.
Shingles is a painful, blistering skin rash that is most common in people 60 and older. It usually goes away after four weeks, but one in five shingles sufferers develops excruciating long-term nerve pain known as postherpetic neuralgia. The ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) has recommended the Shingles vaccine, Zostavax made by Merck Inc. - it uses aborted fetal cell lines MRC-5 and WI-38. Note the vaccine clinical trials shows it worked in only 50% of the people, which is not exactly a sterling track record. But our question is how does one know whether those people who got the shot and did not come down with the disease would have ever gotten shingles anyway? Not all people who contract chickenpox as children get shingles as adults. And many who are vaccinated for chickenpox also come down with shingles.

Holy Father Challenges the West to Respect Life in the Face of Relativism, Subjecticism, & Materialism
The Holy Father said that there are certain challenges that “concern the future of human beings and their identity." Now that, "enormous technological progress has revolutionized many practices in the field of medical science,” certain ethical, “norms that once appeared untouchable have been relativized,” the Pope said.
“In Western societies, characterized by their superabundance of consumer goods and by their subjectivism, human beings find themselves facing a crisis of meaning," while, he continued, "laws are passed that put respect for human life into question."
"The Church, on the foundation of her long experience, and of the treasure of Revelation she received ... firmly underlines her convictions concerning human beings and their prodigious destiny," said the Pope. "When Belgian bishops speak in favor of the development of palliative care to enable people ... to die with dignity, or when they participate in the debates of society" in order to draw attention to that invisible moral frontier before which technological progress must bow: the dignity of man, "they seek to serve the whole of society by identifying the conditions for a real future of freedom and dignity for mankind. With them, I invite political leaders ... to give attentive consideration to their responsibilities and to the challenges these questions pose," the Holy Father said. [More]

In the wake of a new television commercial by Governor Jennifer Granholm boasting of her commitment to protecting abortion on demand, along with her headline appearance yesterday at a pro-abortion rally at Michigan State University, Fidelis of Michigan, a Catholic based advocacy group decried her betrayal of Catholics on the abortion issue.
Fidelis of Michigan President Joseph Cella stated: “In May of 1999, as Attorney General, Jennifer Granholm proudly proclaimed in a letter to the 3,000 Michigan Knights of Columbus gathered on Mackinac Island that she unequivocally supported life ‘from the moment of conception to the natural end of life.’ Once again, Governor Granholm has bitterly betrayed them by stating that abortion is ‘a deeply personal and private decision that should be made by a woman and her doctor and not by politicians.’
The Knights of Columbus is the nation’s largest lay Catholic organization with 70,150 members in Michigan.
“We call on Governor Granholm to release her 1999 letter read to the Knights of Columbus so that Michigan Knights and other Catholics across the state can see for themselves how she cannot be trusted to defend human life,” Cella stated.
Following Granholm’s participation in the rally at MSU, Cella said she should be serving as an example for Catholic students rather than teaching them to thumb their noses at one of the core social teachings of the Catholic Church.
Cella also cited several other occasions that Granholm has betrayed Catholics on the abortion issue including, helping raise funds for the pro-abortion group EMILY’s List, vetoing the partial birth abortion ban and appointing the head of Planned Parenthood of Michigan, the state’s largest abortion provider to serve as Executive Director of the Michigan Women’s Commission.
In the document Catholics in Political Life, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops stated that Catholic leaders must: “teach clearly on our unequivocal commitment to the legal protection of human life from the moment of conception until natural death.”
Cella added: “The fact that Governor Granholm is recklessly and selfishly peddling her abortion on demand agenda without any concern whatsoever for the teachings of the Catholic Church is disgraceful.”
Granholm must be related to KS Governor Kathleen Sebelius who calls herself "Catholic" and "pro-life" but supports abortion on demand. (Sebelius also accepts blood money for her campaign from late-term abortionist George Tiller.) Actually, it's just another familiar characteristic of members of the Democratic party -- talking out of both sides of your mouth, lieing and deceiving the people. I just hope she has a chance to go to Confession before she dies and changes her ways very soon. Surely she must know that God can see through this and we all meet our Maker at the last judgement and have to account for our actions on this earth or doesn't that matter? Does one lose their fear of the Lord and their soul when they become a Democratic politician? I guess when you are as powerful as she is you can say or do anything you want and it doesn't really matter - the important thing is that you get re-elected. I wonder how many "atheists" are out there posing as "Catholics?"
St. Evaristus lived in the second century. He was from a Jewish family in Bethlehem. They were living in Greece at the time of their son's birth. Evaristus was brought up in the Jewish religion. His father was so pleased with the boy's virtue and knowledge that he sent him to the best teachers. Evaristus became a Christian when he grew older. So great was his love for his new faith that he decided to become a priest. At Rome, where he performed his ministry, everyone grew to admire and love him. So it was that when the pope was martyred, Evaristus was chosen to take his place. He felt he was completely unworthy of being pope, but God knew better. These were times of persecution for the Church. Such bad lies were spread about the Catholic faith that the Romans thought nothing of putting Christians to death. Every man who became pope was almost certain of being arrested. For about eight years, Pope St. Evaristus ruled the Church. His zeal was so great that the number of believers grew larger every day. At last, however, he was captured. The jailers were amazed to see the joy on the holy old man's face as he was led to prison. St. Evaristus thought himself very privileged to have been found worthy to suffer and die for Jesus. No better gift could have been given him than his martyrdom. Pope St. Evaristus died in 107.
Often our lives take unexpected turns, but if we find our strength in God, he will give us his peace.

CNA- Cardinal William Keeler of Baltimore has asked Catholics to join him during Pornography Awareness Week in praying that the nation will experience “a resurgence of purity and renewed commitment to chaste relationships and true love.”
Pornography Awareness Week will run from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5. Thousands of people are expected to express their concern about easy access to pornography and the negative impact it has on marriages, families, children, and individuals by wearing white ribbons. The ribbons, the cardinal said, are in protest against “the increase of obscenity” in American culture and in favor of a renewal of chastity.
“The idea that pornography does not cause serious problems is a myth,” the cardinal said in his short message to parishes.
Pornography portrays women and children as cheap sexual objects and undermines the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities, the cardinal indicated. Furthermore, he said, studies have shown that the largest group of viewers of Internet porn is young people between ages 12 and 17, and that most parents are unaware that this issue is affecting their children. Studies have also indicated that pornography consumption can lead to sexually aggressive actions toward others, especially women. [More]
