Today's Intercessory Prayers

St. Bernard was consumed with zealous love for holiness of life, for monastic renewal, and for the Church. Through his intercession, let us pray:

For the men and women you have called to monastic life, keep them faithful to the vision of their founders.

For people in every walk of life, make us grow in holiness despite all enticements to love less.

For the Church in all places, set her alight with the fire of the gospel.

For the Holy Father's special intentions.

For those who are out of work: that they may be spared any discouragement and that they may quickly find satisfying employment that meets their needs.

For an end to abortion and all sins against life.

For the repose of the soul of Michael Zapitlow's and for peace and comfort for his family and friends.

For the repose of the soul of Jamie, age 10, and for comfort and peace for her family.

In thanksgiving for B.'s new job. For a job for her husband in the same city (The couple have been living apart for nearly a year.).

For healing for Maria, who is in the hospital with serious burns and for her husband, who is jail, for setting her on fire.

For Madison, a baby whose eye was accidentally burned with a cigarette.

For Susan, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

For Sherrie, who has a mass the size of a grapefruit in her uterus and is scheduled for surgery.

For the three Brothers who will be ordained as priests in the Community of St. John on August 25.

For all previous prayer requests mentioned here and for those of all my readers.

Our Father...

O God, You called St. Bernard to work tirelessly for Your glory in his own community and in the Church at large. Fill us with his zeal, that we may serve You faithfully in all the works to which You have called us, but especially in the work of living holy lives according to the gospel, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
