Today's Intercessory Prayers

The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, rejoices in the salvation of those whom she prays before the throne of God. Through her intercession, let us ask:

Give life to Your people in Jesus Christ the Lord.

You chose Mary as the the honor of her race; through her prayer we ask: Give life to Your people in Jesus Christ the Lord.

You chose Mary as the vessel of your glory; through her prayers, we ask: Give life to Your people in Jesus Christ the Lord.

You chose Mary as the bearer of Your Word; through her prayer we ask: Give life to Your people in Jesus Christ the Lord.

You chose Mary as the Mother of all the living; through her prayer we ask: Give life to Your people in Jesus Christ the Lord.

For the special intentions of the Holy Father.

That our President and his Administration will be informed by the gospel of life in every decision regarding goverance and legislation.

For the coninued success of Bella, which is just now showing in KS.

For world peace, an end to terrorism, and for all our soldiers who are away from their families this Thanksgiving - that they will have a peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving.

For healing for S. as he struggles with ulcerative colitis. He has lost over 25lbs in three weeks now and nothing seems to be working to get his symptoms and his weight loss under control.

For Tom who needs prayers and his mother, too.

For Bill's special intentions.

For a job for Sarah.

For the special intentions of Chris and Mike.

For all the prayer requests at One Came Back.

For those who are persecuted because of their faith: that the friendship of Christ will strenghten and keep them in times of trial.

For justice for these young men.

    Thanks Jean for telling people we need prayers. We are trying a new inserter for his insulin. I really want the pump to work. I think it is the only way we will get good control for him.

    I was wondering if I could add a prayer request...yesterday my DH and I's little one miscarried at 5 weeks (more details at my blog), but we definitely could use some prayer right now. :( Thanks.

Saint Michael de Sanctis: Patron of Cancer Patients

Today is the feast of Saint Michael de Sanctis, also known as St. Michael of the Saints, a Spanish Discalced Trinitarian priest, the patron of cancer patients. Michael Argemir was born on September 29, 1591 at Vic, Catalonia, Spain. At age 6, he told his parents that he planned to become a monk and began modeling his life after Saint Francis of Assisi. Michael’s parents died when he was about ten years old. He then served as an apprentice with a local merchant. During this apprenticeship, he continued his fervent devotion to the Lord, especially to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At the age of 12, he joined the Trinitarian Friars at Barcelona, taking his vows at St. Lambert’s monastery in Saragosa four years later.  Shortly afterwards, Michael expressed a desire to join the reformed group of Trinitarians and was given permission to do so. St. Raymond Nonnatus, Patron of Expectant Mothers, Midwives, and Newborn Babies

The saint of the day for August 31 is St. Raymond Nonnatus. He is the patron of expectant mothers, midwives, obstetricians, infertile couples, and newborn babies. Raymond was born at Portella, Catalonia, Spain in 1204, the son of wealthy parents. He was delivered by cesarean section when his mother died in childbirth. Hence his name non natus (not born). In his childhood, he seemed to find pleasure only in his devotions and serious duties. His father, sensing that Raymond was drawn to religious life, ordered him to manage one of the family farms. Raymond readily obeyed but spent his time with the shepherds and workers, studying and praying until his father abandoned the idea of making his son a worldly success. Raymond later joined the the Order of Our Lady of Mercy or the Mercederians, which was founded by St. Peter Nolasco, who devoted to ransoming Christians captured by the Moors.
