Trustworthy Catholic Voting Guides

Many of the bloggers have been linking to Catholic guides for voting, which are useful for those who take the time to read them.

I recently found this article on Catholic Exchange which is an excellent guide. It contains one of my favorite quotes: "Disregard for the poor is a travesty, disregard for human life is an abomination."

Here are a few more trustworthy guides/resources:

Faithful Citizenship website from the USCCB

A Guide to Catholic Teaching and Voting from EWTN

Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

Moral Principles for Catholic Voters by the Kansas Catholic Conference

The Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics by Catholic Answers Action

Where do the Presidential Candidates Stand on Key Issues? by Priests for Life

Ten Easy Steps to… Voting with a Clear Conscience Fr. Frank Pavone

DOCTRINAL NOTE on some questions regarding The Participation of Catholics in Political Life -- The Vatican

This is by no means an all-inclusive list of resources, but it includes those which I believe are most trustworthy.

Our parish shares information with parishioners on what the Kansas bishops believe (which is consistent with Catholic teachings) so we have never had a problem discerning what the truth is; however, I realize that in some areas this is not the case, which is why I believe it is crucial that the word get out so everyone can know the truth. However, this information is useful to the extent that people are open to knowing the truth and to acting on it.

Let us pray that all will be open to voting and will vote the way the Holy Spirit is leading them through the authority of the Church.

  1. Thank you for this list. I'd like to encourgae everyone to checkout the candidate comparisons at www.nrlpac.org

That's the Nat'l Right to Life Pac. They are the only pro-life group with a Political action committee so they can do things no other group is allowed to do in an election year.

    God bless America!
