Obama Lies on Abortion, ACORN Ties, at Third Debate

Obama has been deceiving the American people throughout this election, so it's not suprising that he continued to lie at the third and final debate. If he were truthful with the American people about his actions and beliefs, he knows he would lose this election, so he continues the deception in an attempt to win, just as his ACORN supporters continue to cheat for Obama in order to win him this election. Obama tells several lies in this debate. The ones I want to focus on in this post include abortion and his ties with ACORN.
On the BAIPA, John McCain provided this opening:
Sen. Obama, as a member of the IL State Senate, voted in the Judiciary Committee against a law that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion. He voted against that.
And then, on the floor of the State Senate, as he did 130 times as a state senator, he voted present.
Then there was another bill before the Senate Judiciary Committee in the state of IL not that long ago, where he voted against a ban on partial-birth abortion, one of the late-term abortion, a really - one of the bad procedures, a terrible. And then, on the floor of the IL State Senate, he voted present.
I don't know how you vote "present" on some of that. I don't know how you align yourself with the extreme aspect of the pro- abortion movement in America. And that's his record, and that's a matter of his record.
And he'll say it has something to do with Roe v. Wade, about the IL State Senate. It was clear-cut votes that Sen. Obama voted, I think, in direct contradiction to the feelings and views of mainstream America.
He also lied about why he voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. He clamed another Illinois law protected such babies. It did not.
Jill Stanek shares: Obama responded by first falsely stating Born Alive "said you have to provide lifesaving treatment and that would have helped to undermine Roe v. Wade."
LIE. BAIPA simply stated all born alive babies became legally protected persons immediately upon birth, no matter what gestational age and no matter if unwanted abortion survivors.
Obama voted against this straightforward human rights legislation 4 times (aside from his "no" counted "present" vote), stating as the sole state senator speaking against it on the Senate floor in 2001 it would be "unconstitutional" to declare very premature abortion survivors persons because "the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an anti-abortion statute."
In other words, if premature abortion survivors were declared legal persons, they couldn't be legally "kill[ed]" - Obama's word.
Obama further obfuscated his radical record of abandoning abortion survivors to die in hospital soiled utility rooms by adding "there was already a law on the books in IL that required providing lifesaving treatment..."
LIE. IL abortion law to this day only protects abortion survivors their abortionist deems fit to live. The potential for subjective assessments in these cases is clear to all but Obama. In fact, Obama opposed closing this loophole by voting against legislation to mandate a second doctor be present at deliveries of all live abortion survivors to independently assess their viability.
Obama not only opposed IL's BAIPA, he took a leadership role to kill it. His website still contains an ABC News quote from the IL Planned Parenthood CEO at the time stating "Obama approached her" to strategize to defeat BAIPA as well as the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. Barack Obama actually sought out PP to help him defeat a bill protecting abortion survivors.
Finally, for 4 years Obama lied about his record opposing BAIPA. In 2003 he voted against an identical version that passed 98-0 in the U.S. Senate and for which the pro-abortion group NARAL even expressed neutrality.
He then purported several times, as recently as August 16, 2008, that the bills were not identical and he would have supported the IL version had it been the same as the federal version. This was yet another LIE, which Obama's campaign finally had to recant after his actual vote tally from the IL General Assembly archive was posted online.
ACORN Ties:
Via WorldNet Daily: "The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs," Obama declared at last night's debate in response to a statement from Sen. John McCain.
"Now, with respect to ACORN, ACORN is a community organization. Apparently what they've done is they were paying people to go out and register folks, and apparently some of the people who were out there didn't really register people, they just filled out a bunch of names," Obama said.
"It had nothing to do with us. We were not involved," he declared.
Obama's claim last night that his only involvement with ACORN was his representation of the organization in a lawsuit is inaccurate. The 1995 suit on behalf of ACORN, in which the state of Illinois was compelled to implement the federal "motor-voter" bill, was just a sampling of Obama's association.
ACORN is very active in Obama's native Chicago, where in 1997, some 200 members attempted to storm a City Hall meeting, resulting in six members being arrested, including Madeleine Talbot, ACORN's Chicago director.
In the early 1990s, Talbot invited Obama to help train ACORN activists.
While Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago nonprofit, it channeled millions of dollars to ACORN and affiliated groups.
Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund's website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2000.
He served on the Fund alongside William C. Ayers, an unrepentant member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971.
Obama actively sought and received the endorsement by ACORN for his local campaigns.
In the Social Policy Journal, Toni Foulkes, a Chicago ACORN leader, documents what he terms Obama's "long service" with ACORN, which he said led many of the organization's members to help in voter campaigns for Obama's early Chicago campaigns.
Foulkes said Obama and ACORN were "old friends."
In 1992, Obama was director of Project Vote in Chicago, which helped register 150,000 voters on the city's South Side. Obama's successful work was credited in multiple media reports with helping to elect Democratic Sen. Carol Moseley Braun.
Obama's campaign last week falsely claimed ACORN was "not part of" Project Vote, but the organization's incorporation papers, obtained by WND, show Project Vote is a trademark name whose parent company is registered at the same New Orleans address in which ACORN and multiple ACORN affiliates are housed.
Obama himself previously connected Project Vote to ACORN.
"I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drives in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work," Obama was quoted on his own campaign website as saying at an ACORN meeting, according to a post by official Obama website blogger Sam Graham-Felsen.
Obama's lies are disgusting and an insult to American citizens. How stupid does he think we are? He doesn't fool me -- I know him only too well (I have been following his political career since 2002.) and it is the Master of Lies who is behind his deceitful words and actions.
