NOTRE DAME: SOBER UP!

by Judie Brown

In attempting to put a proper face on the ugly situation developing on the campus of Notre Dame University, home of the recent announcement that President Barack Obama would give the commencement address and receive an honorary degree, I fell upon an incredibly wise insight just uttered by Archbishop Charles Chaput. Speaking at the Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, the archbishop said,We need to stop over-counting our numbers, our influence, our institutions and our resources, because they're not real. We can't talk about following St. Paul and converting our culture until we sober up and get honest about what we've allowed ourselves to become. We need to stop lying to each other, to ourselves and to God by claiming to 'personally oppose' some homicidal evil – but then allowing it to be legal at the same time. When I read those words, it occurred to me that the current president of Notre Dame should have been at that speech, taking notes!

Here we have a Catholic archbishop exposing the fact that the emperor has no clothes on, when right down the road, we have the best-known Catholic university in the land reaching out to embrace the most pro-abortion president in the history of the United States. Something is wrong with this picture. Or perhaps one should suggest there is something extraordinarily evil about it.

As Ambassador Alan Keyes opined when addressing this tragic situation, "Do you reject the glamour of evil, and refuse to be mastered by sin?" (From the Roman Catholic Rite of Baptism)

  1. How much longer are we going to keep our heads in the sand? That invitation was a very calculated move. The apostates are becoming bolder because now there is only a Remnant of the true tradition of Faith. The schism is already here, and it is only a matter of time before the new american catholic church breaks away from Rome and the flock scatters. All the prophets of the end times agree that no one who is not under Blessed Mother's Mantle of Protection, who does not have a personal relationship with God, will be able to survive what is coming: the loss of the Faith due to people like Fr. Jenkins.

  2. I send Fr. Jenkins my second email. I referenced the Archbishop's letter. I also ask Fr. to say The Lords Prayer, paying special attention to the part where it says "lead us not into temptation"..., and ask how many people he would be leading to hell in this perceived condoning of abortion by the university by allowing this extreme abortion president to speak.
