I like children, but isn't this a bit ridiculous?

Fertility treatments are inconsistent with God's plans. If she really wants a child so badly, why doesn't she consider adoption? Yes, her age might be a deterrent, but if she is in good health and well - off, which she apparently is, one would think they would make an exception in her case. Also, if she adopted an older child, the child wouldn't be left without a parent at such a young age. Many grandparents today are raising their grandchildren.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks the Catholic Church "just wants people to have kids" needs to learn the Church's teaching on fertility treatments and IVF.
