Barack Obama: The New Mother Teresa?
Today started out like most Fridays for me -- filled with chores, appointments, shopping, and errands -- until I met a friend at Walmart, who shared the shocking news with me -- Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize -- the same prize awarded to Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta in 1979. I could hardly believe my ears! The Infanticide President -- the person who is one of the greatest champions and strongest supporters of the slaughter of innocent and defenseless infants in our country today is receiving an award for promoting peace? What kind of cruel joke was this?
In her reception speech, Blessed Mother Teresa told us: "I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing - direct murder by the mother herself. ... Because if a mother can kill her own child - what is left for me to kill you and you kill me - there is nothing between."
While Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta expressed the utmost respect for human life and condemned the murder of innocent, defenseless children in the womb, Barack Obama espouses zero respect for human life and champions abortion.
Blessed Mother Teresa told us: "Every act of love is a work of peace, no matter how small." And, not only did she speak of peace and love, but she lived it out in her life everyday. Mother Teresa worked in squalid conditions with the poorest of the poor. She got up at dawn for 50 years to clean festered sores, comfort lonely hearts, sooth ravaged souls, and handle withered bodies with extraordinary dignity and respect. She took in the abandoned - those no one else would care for - those who were left to die alone in the streets of Calcutta. She did it all out of love for Jesus. She saw in each one of them the face of Jesus. To her, each person was worthy of the utmost dignity and respect because they were a child of God.
What has Barack Obama done to promote peace?
In stark contrast to Blessed Mother Teresa, Barack Obama has abandoned those in most need of his care. As a member of the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama refused to protect live-born survivors of abortion. In fact, he acted in a very determined manner to see that the babies who survived abortion attempts, but were born alive, received no medical care whatsoever by actively opposing the Born Alive Infants Protection Act (a bill to protect abortion survivors from being shelved to die in hospital soiled utility rooms) four times. Those who had been abandoned by their own parents were left to die without even basic medical care thanks to Barack Obama.
As President, Barack Obama has pushed his "health care" reform plan on us which: forces taxpayers to fund abortion, rations medical care for the weak, sick, and disabled, fails to respect and protect the conscience rights of medical personnel and health care providers (instead they are expected to adopt his inhumane and immoral views), and promotes euthanasia.
How has Obama's Acceptance of this reward changed things?
The Nobel Peace Prize has lost its value and meaning -- it is no longer a symbol of dignity and respect. The prize has been demeaned and is no longer of any value. The primary reason Blessed Mother Teresa accepted this prize was to be able to speak to all about the horrors of the culture of death and to evangelize those who are entrenched in it. The prize itself meant nothing to her -- the real reward was waiting for her in the next life when she would come face to face with her Maker. I pray that Barack Obama is seriously pondering that moment.
