Notre Dame Considering Women’s Care Center on Campus

 Via The Cardinal Newmann Society:

The University of Notre Dame might be opening an on-campus location of the Women’s Care Center, “the nation’s largest Catholic-based pregnancy-resource center,” the National Catholic Register reports.  The Center was founded by Dr. Janet Smith, then a professor at Notre Dame, who said that when she started the project, “Notre Dame did give a remarkable amount of help.”  Ann Murphy Manion, the current president of the center and a 1977 graduate of Notre Dame, told the Register, “the Women’s Care Centers had some meetings with Father Jenkins recently, and I think he is very sincere about wanting to do more in the area of pro-life, do more to affirm life.  And one of those initiatives . . . might be a campus presence, although that has not been finalized.”  Fr. Jenkins, the president of Notre Dame, sits on the board of WCC.  In a September letter to members of the Notre Dame community, to which The Cardinal Newman Society responded here, Fr. Jenkins stated that the “Women’s Care Center and similar centers in other cities deserve the support of Notre Dame clubs and individuals.”  Manion also noted that the centers already “serve Notre Dame students.”  Source: National Catholic Register
