March 31, 2011. Since it's release on March 10, the pope's book “Jesus of Nazareth,” has steadily climbed the numbers chart in copies sold. It recently reached the number five spot on the New York Times Best Seller list.

So far, 1.2 million copies of the book have been published in eight languages. The entire Italian and German editions sold out on the first day at more than 450,000 copies sold.

The number of copies sold in the US was a surprise for the English publisher Ignatius Press, as they sold over half their stock with 90,000 copies in the first week.

The book as also been well received in Jewish circles, due largely to the fact that the pope said the Jewish community is not to blame for the death of Jesus.

This is the second volume of the pope's writings on the life of Jesus Christ. It speaks specifically about the last week Jesus spent on Earth, from his entrance to Jerusalem all the way to his resurrection.
