Alan Colmes Attacks Catholic Candidate Rick Santorum: What we need to do about it

If you haven't had a chance to read Father Z.'s post on Alan Colmes's outrageous  remarks about Catholic candidate  Rick Santorum's child and about marriage, I suggest you do so now. In it, he tells us that he was watching a segment of Hannity's program on FOX News and Rick Santorum was on. Santorum explained the death of his newborn child, which became a point of mockery from liberal pundit Alan Colmes.

Now, I am a not a regular viewer of Hannity, but when I have watched it I usually listen, but tune out Alan on an emotional level, as I can predict how he will behave and react to issues. He    tends to be rude to his guests, which can be irritating. He is also a far left liberal and presents some pretty extreme political views, which I disagree with about 99% of the time. In addition, most of his views strongly conflict with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

I agree with Fr. Z's assessment when he says: "Colmes remarks reveal the attitude of his sort of liberal about pregnancy, birth, babies, children, (natural) sexuality, family over and opposed to the beliefs, thoughts, even feelings of those who defend the dignity of human life." We all know how those who stand up for human life are attacked by those from the culture of death. We are persecuted by our co-workers, classmates, friends, and  family members for our beliefs. Can you imagine how much someone who is a faithful Catholic (100% pro-life) and who is in the running for the president of the U.S. will be attacked for living out and standing up for their beliefs?

We must pray for Santorum and other faithful Catholic leaders for God's strength and protection from this evil. Colmes tried to make Santorum look like an extremist -- as someone who had gone off the deep end. His actions were PURE EVIL. We need to pray for Alan's conversion. I think praying the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel is one of the best ways we can protect our Catholic pro-life leaders. I know that I am going to begin tonight praying for Alan's conversion and continue praying for a strong pro-life Catholic (or Christian of another denomination)  president to lead our country which is what I have been praying for ever since Barack Obama was elected in 2008. Not only do need to pray, but we need to become politically active and do whatever we can to prevent the election of another pro-death president.

Update: Yes, Alan Colmes apologized and Santorum has accepted his apology, but that does not negate the fact that both are still in need of our prayers.

  1. Well said, Jean! I would only add that we should pray for our Catholic leaders to become faithful sons and daughters of Christ and His Church, and enact and enforce legislation which preserves the dignity and sanctity of all human life.

  3. I am in total agreement with you, Fr. Don. Kathleen Sebelius and Nancy Pelosi have been at the top of my prayer list for some time now.

    Thanks for your comment!

    God bless you!

  4. I totally agree! We need to do those things which seem to us to be totally anathema to our beings! Pray for your enemies as hard as that sounds! Thanks, Jean.

  5. Alan Colmes is a puppet of obama and the liberal lame stream media. I cannot stand him and stopped listening to Hannity and Colmes until he left the show.

I do not understand why Fox or any other decent station lets him on.
