Pope begins his vacation
July 3, 2012. (Romereports.com) Benedict XVI has left for his vacation home in Castel Gandolfo, a small town some 20 miles away from Rome, to begin his summer holidays. During the month of July, he will have no public ceremonies, except for the Sunday Angelus, and he will not be receiving any formal visitors.
On August 1st he will resume his normal schedule, which includes the general audience that takes place every Wednesday.
In practice, the pope's agenda for these days is not completely empty. On July 11th, he will attend a concert by the conductor Barenboim, and then on the 15th he will visit the Italian town of Frascati.
