Vatican drops condom-promoting Brazilian star from Christmas concert


ROME (CNS) -- A Brazilian pop singer has been dropped from the Vatican's annual Christmas concert because church officials feared she would use the occasion to promote the use of condoms.

Daniela Mercury was invited to sing in the Vatican's audience hall Dec. 3, in a program to be taped and aired in Italy Dec. 24. The performers were expected to meet with Pope Benedict XVI.

  6. And the funniest thing is she sad in brazilian newspapers she really is catholic! nonsense!
    Me, I´m brazilian, and guess we have better singers to be invited next time!
