CHELSEA, MI — The national Catholic based advocacy group Fidelis delivered an impassioned letter Friday to the White House urging President Bush to intervene in the 16-year long legal dispute over the Mt Soledad Veterans Memorial. This week the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to stay a lower court decision ordering the City of San Diego to pay $5,000 per day beginning August 1st if the cross is not removed. Today is the traditional date for the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (it is celebrated on the Saturday following the Second Sunday after Pentecost). This year the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is suppressed for the Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist (June 24). O Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and quickening source of eternal life, infinite treasure of the Divinity, and burning furnace of divine love. Thou art my refuge and my sanctuary, 0 my amiable Savior.
