CONSERVATIVE GROUP DEMANDS OUSTER OF MARYLAND GOVERNOR
A Virginia-based conservative group is demanding the resignation of Maryland's Governor Robert Ehrlich, who fired a Catholic member of a public transportation board for making public comments about his opposition to homosexuality.
"It is a disgrace that anyone would be fired for stating their religious beliefs in a public forum not connected with their job capacity," said Eugene Delgaudio, the president of Public Advocate. "The pro-family citizens of Maryland should not have to be represented by an anti-Christian bigot.”
Delgaudio was referring to the governor's dismissal of Robert Smith, a member of the Metro transportation board, who had said on a local cable-television show that he opposed the idea that "government should proffer a special place of entitlement within the laws of the United States for persons of sexual deviancy."
“This is sure to have a chilling effect on freedom of speech rights of Maryland government officials," the Public Advocate statement noted.

I think all conservatives should call for his resignation.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Someone like this doesn't deserve to be in office. Everyone has the right to free speech -- even Catholics who tell the truth and stand up for their moral beliefs.
