Congress Drops $200M in Contraceptive Funding From Stimulus Bill

Washington DC, Jan 27, 2009 (CNA).- A $200 million provision for contraception programs is being dropped from the $825 billion stimulus package following criticism from pro-lifers and Republican congressmen.

President Barack Obama personally called House Democratic leaders to ask them to remove the provision, an Obama aide told CNN. One of his calls reportedly went to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and one of the most influential liberal members of Congress.

The president reportedly urged the provision’s removal because it was a hot button issue among Republicans and did not focus on creating jobs as quickly as possible. Article.

Praise the Lord! Thank you, congressmen, and fellow pro-lifers who have spoken out and contacted your congressmen.

  3. Funny how he only understands partial truths that benefit his personal agenda.

Your other post today does reiterate the hope that despite Obama's agenda including FOCA, it will not likely pass - just like in the Clinton days.

  4. On Jan 22, when I was waiting on line behind hundreds of pro-life marchers to enter the Rayburn Congressional Office Building, the SIECUS (Planned Parenthood lobbyists) people were looking smug, all ten of them.
I reminded them that they may think they have the upper hand, with Obama and the Dems in control, but "'we have only begun to fight, we have the Lord of Heaven and Earth on our side!"
Take that, merchants of the Culture of Death!
