California Legislature Approves Homosexual Marriages
The California Legislature on Tuesday became the first legislative body in the country to approve same-sex marriages, as gay-rights advocates overcame two earlier defeats in the Assembly.
The 41-35 vote sends the bill to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The passage of this legislation deeply saddens me. I know what you're thinking -- but it's California, what do you expect? I think that if this can happen in California, that eventually it will spread like wild-fire across the country unless people do something now.
If we think we had problems with Katrina, when Governor Schwarzennegger signs this bill, I believe that there will be horrific ramifications that you and I can't even imagine at this point in time.
We must begin with ourselves -- to pray and fast for a renewal in our culture. We need to continue to persevere in prayer and action for the salvation of souls and for the protection of the traditional family in our culture. Christians of all faiths must unite as one to overcome this culture of death.
Those of you who are reading this who are in need of help in overcoming your struggle with homosexuality, be encouraged that you are not alone and there is help available for you through a support group called Courage. Courage, an apostolate of the Roman Catholic Church, ministers to those with same-sex attractions and their loved ones. In Courage, you get to know men and women who share in your concerns, meeting them online or in person at chapter meetings, Conferences and Days of Recollection.
It is not wrong to have temptations toward the same sex, but is wrong to act on those temptations. We live in an immoral society that says whatever we want to do with our bodies is ok. However, engaging in immoral activities always results in destruction -- to the body, to the emotions, to the mind, and most importantly, to the soul.
Homosexuality is a disordered and unnatural act that is immoral and self-destructive as well as destructive to others. It hurts me deeply to know that many of my brothers and sisters have been deceived by a society who will not share the truth because they are afraid, weak, or indifferent -- they just don't love others enough to speak out or to reach out to them.
Please know that if you suffer in this way, my heart and prayers go out to you. You have an affliction that is an addiction and you need help. I will pray that the Lord will reach out to you today and draw you into the recesses of His loving and merciful heart and heal you from this malady. I pray that you will act today, admit that you have a problem, and seek help, so you can get on with your life. Lord, bring your loved ones back home.
