Catholic Voters on Marriage and Family

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on the role Catholics played in securing marriage and family rights in the election: “Were it not for Catholics, the institutions of marriage and the family would have taken a hit in places like Arizona, Florida and California. Indeed, in Florida and California, their vote proved to be decisive. “Arizonians rejected gay marriage by a vote of 56% to 49%, though the margin among Catholics was less—51% to 49%. In Florida, the Catholic vote proved to be controlling: overall, the ban on gay marriage won by 62% to 38%, but among Catholics it was 66% to 34%. Californians narrowly defeated gay marriage by a margin of 52% to 48%, but Catholics rejected it by an impressive 60% to 40% differential. A vote in California to support parental notification lost by 52% to 48%, but it won among Catholics by a hefty 58% to 42%. “On both issues, Catholics and Protestants who are regular church-goers clearly supported a ban on homosexual marriage and affirme...

Stanek: Life Will Not Go On

Barack Obama was elected president despite the fact he supports abortion into the fourth trimester.... Either the 63 million people voting for him didn't know about his radical record, which includes abandoning abortion survivors to die, didn't care, or didn't believe it. Meanwhile all three state pro-life initiatives failed Tuesday.... And both state anti-life initiatives passed.... Altogether, this means we are fooling ourselves if we think the United States is still a Christian nation. Its people just elected a barbarian as president, authorized the killing of both its youngest and sickest, rejected scientific fact that human life begins at conception, blocked parental intervention of abortions of young girls, and voted down the wording of an abortion ban they said only two years ago they would support. America can be called a culture with Christian roots, but its Christian ethos has been significantly eroded. One other thing. Obama's election means Roe v. Wade has b...

President Elect Obama???

Obama Chosen I am shocked beyond words....Lord, have mercy! To me, this is worse than 9-11 -- much worse. See the electoral count. Will Supreme Court have say in presidency? Amy Proctor best expresses my feelings now. What the Lord is sharing with me now: "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." ~ Romans 8:28 " I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creatures will be able to separate us from the love of Christ Jesus Our Lord." ~ Romans 8: 38 "I Put no trust in princes, in mere mortals powerless to save. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth; that day all their planning comes to nothing. Happy those whose help is Jacob's God, whose hope is in the LORD, their God, The maker of heaven and earth, the seas and all that is in them, Who keeps faith forever, sec...

Election Countdown: Ten Ways to Prepare Ourselves for the Final Battle in this Spiritual War

Image
By Jean M. Heimann We’re in the process of counting down the hours for this upcoming election. Most of us have been praying and fasting for some time now. We have also been working hard to spread the truth about both Obama and McCain and their positions, particularly on pro-life issues. While Obama is an extremist in the area of pro-life, strongly opposing every human life issue, McCain is pro-life on all of the issues, but one. Biden is also 100% pro-death, while Sarah Palin is 100% pro-life. What can we do in these final days to promote pro-life candidates in the November 4 elections? 1. Continue to pray and fast until the elections are over. 2. Take the day off on Election Day. Volunteer to help in a campaign for pro-life campaign making last minute phone calls or driving others to the polling places. 3. Remind others to vote. 4. Spend as much time as you are able to in Eucharistic Adoration on Election Day, without neglecting the duties of your vocation. Prior to voting, go to Con...

The Largest Pro-life Event in the Nation

When? November 4th. Where? Local Voting/Polling Sites around the nation, 7 am to 7 pm in most areas. What? Cast your vote for your Local, State and National Pro-Life Candidates. The cost is free to you. Every Pro-Lifer can be heard, but only if they cast their vote! Don’t let the media vote for you. Don’t believe the media when they tell you that your vote won’t count. Don’t let the media tell you who is going to win; YOU tell them who is going to win - make YOUR voice heard – Vote on November 4th. An election is the government asking for your opinion. They want to know who YOU think is the best qualified person to hold a position in the government. Voting does not mean you are placing someone in office to rule over you. It is just giving your opinion; who do you feel would be the best for that position. Be sure to let them know on November 4th. In God's eyes every Christian votes in every election. We vote by ballot or by silence. Silence gives weight to those in opposition t...

Bishop Finn: A Week of Prayer for Our Country

Dear Friends in Christ, As we approach this monumental election, our choices are as clear as the Scriptures themselves: "I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live." (Deut 30:19) Pope Benedict XVI similarly guides us in the proper ordering of our values as he teaches, "The fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception until its natural end. Abortion, consequently, cannot be a human right - it is the very opposite. It is 'a deep wound in society.'" Our Catholic moral principles teach that a candidate's promise of economic prosperity is insufficient to justify their constant support of abortion laws, including partial-birth abortion, and infanticide for born-alive infants. Promotion of the Freedom of Choice Act is a pledge to eliminate every single limit on abortions achieved o...

Police: McCain Volunteer Robbed, Mutilated-- Updated

Pittsburgh Tribune Review - A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a “B” into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman’s car, Pittsburgh police said. "She is a volunteer for the McCain-Palin campaign," said campaign spokesman Peter Feldman. "Sen. McCain has reached out to her via telephone and has spoken to her and her family,” as has McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Feldman said. “Out of respect for her privacy we're not going to comment further." Watch a video and read an earlier news report here. Michelle Malkin remains skeptical. Bishop Hermann: Judgement Day

Image
Bishop Hermann Image via St. Louis Catholic Judgment Day is on its way. We cannot stop it. We don’t know when it will come, but just as surely as the sun rises daily, the Son of Man will come when we least expect. Judgment Day is on its way. For many, this coming election may very well be judgment day, for this election will measure us. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells us in 10:32-33: "Everyone who acknowledges Me before others, I will acknowledge before My heavenly Father. But whoever denies Me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father." Judgment Day is on its way. When my time comes, I will be measured by my Savior for the decisions I have made. I will either be acknowledged by Jesus or denied by Him in the presence of our heavenly Father. The question I need to ask myself is this: What kind of witness will I give to Him when I go into the voting booth this election day? The decision I make in the voting booth will reflect my value system. If I value the go...

WND: Now Terrorists Swoon over Biden

JERUSALEM – In an exclusive interview tonight, a senior Hamas official heaped praise on Sen. During the interview with WND's Aaron Klein and WABC Radio's John Batchelor, the Hamas figure also expressed hope regarding Sen. National Days of Prayer and Fasting

At this crucial time of transition, please join your fellow Americans in lifting our eyes, our hearts and our prayers to our Heavenly Father, pleading for His mercy. For the election of a President who will do everything possible to secure the right to life for every human life - from conception to natural death. For the defeat of all candidates who promote, support, or advocate in any way, a culture of death. That all of our elected leaders be inspired by God to work to protect the pre-born, the innocent, hel...

Devastating Video: Obama Discusses Job Bill Ayers Gave Him

You really do need to watch the entire video. You will hear Obama saying the job Ayers gave him is one of his major qualifications for political office. He also calls Rev Meeks and Father Pfleger friends. The video also lays out the argument that Ayers gave an unqualified Obama the jobs that allowed Obama to buy his way into public office.
