2013 Life Chain Sunday: Wichita

Here is a group from our parish at the Life Chain this afternoon. A few other parishioners who attended did not make it into the photo. It was a cool, windy, but sunny day with temperatures in the 60's. Approximately 50 people showed up at our location.

Franciscan University to Host Bioethics Conference

STEUBENVILLE, OH - What is it about humans that makes us valuable, that gives us rights? Does the life of an unborn human being have intrinsic value, and if so, why? Do severely demented human beings still have a right to life? At the upcoming Value of Human Life Conference , the Institute of Bioethics at Franciscan University of Steubenville will seek answers to these questions and more. The Institute's fall conference will be held Friday, October 23, to Sunday, October 25. Four well-known experts in bioethics will speak. Dr. Francis Beckwith, professor of philosophy and church-state studies at Baylor University, is a noted writer on abortion. Abortion Opponents Launch Massive Grassroots Mobilization in 212 Cities

Starting tomorrow, and continuing through November 1, tens of thousands of faithful people in 212 cities -- across 45 American states, five Canadian provinces, and Denmark -- will conduct a unified 40-day campaign of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, peaceful vigils outside abortion facilities and Planned Parenthood offices, and grassroots community organizing," said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life. 40 Days for Life is a pro-life initiative that burst onto the national scene just two years ago and has already mobilized more than 215,000 people in 240 cities across all 50 American states and several other countries during four previous coordinated campaigns, saving 1,561 lives from abortion.
