Catholic Carnival 194: Have Faith...

Image
is up at Musings for a Catholic Bookstore. Susie is our hostess for this week and she has done a fantastic job of writing this up and organizing the posts. Here are just a few of my favorite posts there: Elena at My Domestic Church explores some of the reasons why voting for Obama might seem like logical choice for her current situation, but why her conscience would never allow it. In her post Response from Poverty , she reminds us that there are more important issues to consider this election than just economics, and why nothing is more important than protecting and respecting life. Christine at Domestic Vocation gives us some Perspective with a side of Cheval Blanc, 1947 . It’s easy to forget how good we Catholics have it here in America, even with the current tensions going on. She reminds us why we should be thankful every day, even for those things we’d rather gripe about - even for those Masses that fail to meet our preferences. Trustworthy Catholic Voting Guides

Many of the bloggers have been linking to Catholic guides for voting, which are useful for those who take the time to read them. I recently found this article on Catholic Exchange which is an excellent guide. It contains one of my favorite quotes: " Disregard for the poor is a travesty, disregard for human life is an abomination." Here are a few more trustworthy guides/resources: Faithful Citizenship website from the USCCB A Guide to Catholic Teaching and Voting from EWTN Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Moral Principles for Catholic Voters by the Kansas Catholic Conference The Voter’s Guide for Serious Catholics by Catholic Answers Action Where do the Presidential Candidates Stand on Key Issues? by Priests for Life Ten Easy Steps to… Voting with a Clear Conscience Fr. Last year before the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Barack Obama told abortion-on-demand activists: "The first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." It would undo decades of legal work, research and educational successes. It would invalidate all of the major types of pro-life laws that have been upheld by the Supreme Court in the decades since Roe versus Wade. Among the types of laws that the Freedom of Choice Act would invalidate are: --- The national ban on partial-birth abortion that the Supreme Court upheld on April 18, in Gonzales versus Carhart. -- The Hyde Amendment...
