Want Justice in Sebelius' Kansas? Bring Cash

Image
Cartoon and commentary by John Francis Borra, SFO, veritatis@eaglecom.net , used with permission. On July 2nd, notorious millionaire abortionist George Tiller once again evaded justice when a grand jury, hobbled by months of state-sponsored stall tactics, was dismissed without indicting him. But who, really, is surprised? After all, Tiller, Planned Parenthood and other players in the country’s abortion industry own the justice system here in Kansas. Time after time, through the appointment and manipulation of attorneys general, district attorneys, judges and law enforcement, Governor Kathleen Sebelius has helped abortionists evade Kansas law. At every level— city, county and state— the regulation, investigation and prosecution of abortion operators have been stymied during her tenure, permitting illegal abortions, sexual assaults and other crimes to continue unchecked. In April, Sebelius vetoed the Kansas Legislature's broadly supported Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act intended t...

Sebelius Calls VP Talk Flattering

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius said suggestions that she could be Barack Obama's running mate are "flattering and a little surreal.'' But she isn't saying whether she would accept. Sebelius is one of several people whose names have been floated as possible vice presidential candidates for Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee. Former Sens. John Edwards and Sam Nunn have also been mentioned. Sebelius, co-chairwoman of the Democratic National Convention, made her comments Thursday on a visit to Denver, where the convention will be held Aug. 25-28. Via Kake News. Governor Sebelius Fabricates Story to Cover for Tiller Party

Image
Attempting to cover-up her soiree with late-term anortionist George Tiller last spring, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has been caught fabricating a story. Today, her office admits that the reimbursement for the dinner party that took place on April 9, 2007, was made only ten days ago, on May 23, 2008, nearly a month after an Operation Rescue staff member made an Open Records request on April 28, 2008, for receipts related to the event. The Open Records request was finally honored on May 23, 2008, the same day that the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus supposedly reimbursed the State of Kansas for the event. "It took Sebelius and her cronies a whole month to figure out a cover story for the Tiller party once they realized that news of it was out," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "There is still not one shred of evidence to back up her fairy tale. The accuracy and authenticity of anything they produce now cannot be trusted. Our source, who was at the ...

Pete Vere: Consensus emerging in the deny-Communion-to-pro-abort-politicians debate

Canon lawyer Pete Vere has written an excellent article in The Washington Times about the debate over the denial of Communion to pro-choice Roman Catholic politicians, which was rekindled last month when Bishop Joseph F. Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, told Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to refrain from partaking in the sacrament . Vere's article gives the history of this debate as well as the consensus emerging among pastors and canonists. An excerpt: As Bishop Naumann joins the chorus of American bishops refusing Communion to wayward politicians, a new consensus is emerging among canon lawyers on the topic, which reached a boiling point four years ago surrounding Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry . Mrs. Sebelius, a Democrat, has been the subject of much speculation as a potential vice-presidential pick for Sen. Barack Obama. "Eight or 10 years ago, when people first started advocating on this, they were voices crying in the wilderness," says the Rev. Francis G. Mor...

Is Abortion Tiller's "god"?

This video is a time line of events leading up to the start of George Tiller's Wichita, Kansas abortions. Joan Appleton Former Abortion Provider from U.S.A. speaks on what happens to the mind of an abortionist from her first hand point of view. She uses Tiller as an example in her talk.

Corruption in KS under Governor Kathleen Sebelius Revealed at Last!

Everyone's talking about it throughout the blogosphere. I knew this day was bound to come when I first began blogging about the corruption here in KS about three years ago. It existed long before I moved here, but hopefully, won't continue, now that it has been publicly exposed on a national level. I am so thankful to Operation Rescue and Kansans for Life for exposing the evil and bringing it into the light. Dennis Boyle of the National Review refers to it as "machine politics" in his article "Supremely Wrong." Here's how he describes it: Machine politics is generally associated with cities, the cynical cronyism that is the prerequisite to wholesale corruption and urban decay. But these days it’s at its worst in, of all places, Kansas, under the governorship of leading Democratic vice-presidential contender, Kathleen Sebelius. Just ask Phill Kline. The former state attorney general and current district attorney of Johnson County, in suburban Kansas City...

What Matters Most

Image
Governor Kathleen Sebelius said yesterday that the reason she hosted George Tiller and his staff for a private dinner or party event at the Governor's Mansion on April 9, 2006, was because he won it as an auction item at the 2006 TORCH dinner given by the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus. While the only Sebelius donation on the original list of auction items was a pewter bowl, www.kansasmeadowlark.com now reports that the KC Star Primebuzz of September 21, 2006 said under "Torch Tidbits" that " A late-arriving from Wichita Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius also was well received, particularly when she offered up as an unexpected auction item dinner for six with her and the First Dude at the Governor's Mansion." Kansans for Life Executive Director, Mary Kay Culp said: "It doesn't matter if the Tiller party was an extension of the TORCH auction dinner for six, or another event altogether as the source of the pictures claims. What matte...

Governor Sebelius' Response to Secret Tiller Party Called Laughable by OR

Earlier today I posted on Governor Kathleen Sebelius' office covering up a secret party honoring late - term abortionist George Tiller , who has pumped huge amounts of money into her campaign. Some rather shocking photos of Sebelius and Tiller were included. Sebelius' office, attempting to do "damage control", stated that the Tiller party depicted in a dozen photographs was a prize in a charity auction in which Sebelius had no control over who would attend. Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, responded by saying," “According to our source, who attended the event at Cedar Crest, the party was ‘by special invitation only.’ It was obvious to this person that Tiller was on a very friendly basis with Sebelius and took the time to personally introduce each member of his abortion clinic staff to the governor . Our source was very specific that the event’s purpose was to ‘honor’ Tiller and his staff. The pictures, especially the ones that include the political...

Kansas City's Archbishop Naumann on Governor Kathleen Sebelius

Governor’s Veto Prompts Pastoral Action On the day of my return (Monday, April 21) from the exhilarating experience of participating in Pope Benedict’s pastoral visit to the United States, I learned that Governor Kathleen Sebelius had vetoed the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act (HS SB 389), which had been passed by significant majorities in both chambers of the Kansas Legislature. Last week, an attempt to override the governor’s veto failed in the Senate by two votes. Governor Sebelius in her veto message claimed: “For years, the people of Kansas have asked their elected officials to move beyond legislative debates on issues like abortion.” From her veto message, I received the impression the governor considered it a waste of the Legislature’s time to pass a statute that attempts to protect some women by making certain they have the opportunity to be well-informed: 1) about the development of their unborn child; and 2) about abortion alternatives available to them. Evidently, the gove...

Governor Sebelius continues to protect Tiller by vetoing CARA

Via LifeNew.Com: The Kansas Senate failed by two votes to overturn a veto from pro-abortion Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on a bill that would have put several common sense abortion limits in place. The vote would have failed by one but a pro-life lawmaker was absent at the time of the debate. The Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act failed on a 25-14 vote and, had Senator Emler been there, the Senate would have been one shy of the 27 votes needed. O’Reilly Confronts “Tiller the Baby Killer” In Wichita (updated)

Go here to view the O'Reilly video. (Blogger isn't letting me put it online.) Wichita, KS – Producers for Fox News host Bill O’Reilly were in Wichita last Friday where they confronted late-term abortionist George R. Tiller as he visited a Quick Trip gas station. Operation Rescue assisted the O’Reilly crew in locating Tiller for the impromptu interview. The segment appeared on The O’Reilly Factor news program on Tuesday, June 12, 2007, and discussed the recently released video-taped statement by nationally noted psychiatrist Dr. Paul McHugh, who was contracted by former Attorney General Phill Kline to examine redacted medical records obtained through subpoena from Tiller’s abortion mill and render an expert opinion about the validity of the psychiatric diagnoses used by Tiller to justify post-viability abortions. Kansas law prohibits abortions after 21 weeks gestation unless the mother’s life is in danger or the pregnancy will result in a “substantial and irreversible impairm...

Kansas Gov. Sebelius "Not Fit To Serve" Says Bill O'Reilly

Operation Rescue encourages public to express outrage over government protection of abortionist Tiller New York, NY - June 1, 2007 - Talk Show host Bill O'Reilly continued his harsh criticism of late-term abortionist George R. Tiller of Wichita, Kansas, on his radio program, which aired nationwide on May 31. The day before, O'Reilly had aired a segment on his Fox News program, The O'Reilly Factor, lambasting Tiller as well as Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for protecting him. Describing Tiller's late-term abortion business as "barbaric," O'Reilly indicated that the Tiller situation was one of the worst cases he'd ever seen. He says Sebelius is "not fit to serve" because of her veto of a provision that would have reiterated current Kansas law that requires abortionist to report the medical reason for abortions after 21 weeks gestation. "She is in the clinic standing right next to [Tiller] every day. The governor is doing exactly what that man is ...

O’Reilly Rebounds With Hard-Hitting Exposé on Notorious Abortionist

Accuses KS Governor of protecting Tiller New York City, NY – Fox News host Bill O’Reilly rebounded from a six-month silence to issue a scathing segment on the notorious late-term abortionist George R. Tiller that aired the evening of May 30. During the segment, O’Reilly blasted Tiller for “executing fetuses” for “vague medical reasons.” He was equally critical of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who vetoed a bill that would have required Tiller to provide specific medical reasons for abortions after 21 weeks of pregnancy. “Incredibly, Gov. Sebelius is protecting Tiller,” O’Reilly said during his broadcast. “And Gov. Sebelius is allowing him to continue the slaughter. How the governor sleeps at night is beyond me.” O’Reilly produced a document showing that Tiller has a lengthy history of campaign contributions to Sebelius going back to 1994. O’Reilly’s guest was Rep. Ben Hodge, who resigned a committee post in protest of the lack of action by Speaker Melvin Neufeld to bring Tiller to just...

Editorial in Wichita Eagle: Sebelius wrong to veto abortion reporting bill

The following is this morning's editorial in the Wichita Eagle written by editorial board member Brent Castillo: Gov. Kathleen Sebelius again vetoed a legislative proposal that would have required doctors to report exactly why viable fetuses -- those who could survive outside the womb -- were aborted. The Kansas Senate failed Tuesday to override her veto. At least this time Sebelius didn't muddle her veto message with personal-objection rhetoric, as she did last year. Instead she wrote that "all Kansans support efforts to reduce the number of abortions," but that the proposed law "likely" would have little substantive effect and would violate the privacy of patients. Sebelius is correct that the proposed law may not have directly reduced the number of abortions. But she is blowing more smoke than a western Kansas coal plant on the privacy concern. Privacy would have been protected, because doctors would have assigned numbers to patients and wouldn't subm...

ALEXA'S LAW EARLY MOTHER'S DAY GIFT TO KANSAS

"Mother's Day came early for thousands of Kansans today because criminals who attack pregnant women can no longer get away with murder--literally--in Kansas. Alexa's Law, which obtains justice for unborn victims of violence, was signed into law today by Gov. Sebelius as part of a larger crime bill, HB 2062. Alexa's Law allows prosecution for both victims when pregnant women and their unborn children are criminally harmed and killed. Kansas law now joins 34 other states and federal law in providing more protection for mothers-to-be. The Brooks family of Wichita engaged in a public campaign to pass this law, along with Rep. Steve Brunk,(R-Bel Aire) and successfully delivered over 6,000 petitions to the legislature to obtain unborn victim of violence protection. A brutal murder-for-hire in June 2006 had taken the lives of the Brooks family's daughter Chelsea, and nearly-born granddaughter, Alexa. The Wichita prosecutor is only able to prosecute for one death--that of C...
