This blog is intended for Catholics who hold and practice the Catholic and Apostolic Faith, who love the Church, and who find especially inspiring the Liturgy of Mass Pope Benedict XVI has named (in his Apostolic Letter, Summorum Pontificum) “the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite.” Venite Missa Est has been approved by Bishop Jackels of Wichita, KS and is under the the direction of Msgr. MARYSVILLE, PA, OCTOBER 30, 2007 - The Confraternity of Catholic Clergy respectfully asks the Bishops of the United States (USCCB) to disregard the recent letter from the National Coalition of American Nuns on Liturgical Translations . We totally disagree with their request to reject a literal and accurate English version of the Roman Missal based on the typical Latin text. It is our contention as ordained ministers who daily celebrate the sacred liturgy and who serve the spiritual needs of the faithful that they deserve nothing less than total and complete conformity to the authentic and official texts approved by the Holy See. Since the Eucharistic Sacrifice is the ‘source and summit of Christian life’, it is imperative that the Church’s ministers celebrate 'digne, atténte ac devote' (worthily, with attention and devotion). The long-awaited motu proprio in which the Holy Father liberalizes access to the traditional Latin Mass will be released on July 7. The motu proprio is a 3-page document. It will be made public along with an explanatory letter from Pope Benedict to the world's bishops; that letter is somewhat longer, at 4 pages. The document emphasizes the unity of the Roman rite, and the Pope explains that he hopes the two forms of the Mass will enrich each other. The ordinary form of the Roman rite will continue to be the Novus Ordo Mass; the extraordinary form will be the Latin Mass, using the 1962 Missal. Source. For more information, go here .
