Music Review – Christmas in Harvard Square

Image
This Thanksgiving weekend I have been listening to the dulcet and ethereal soprano voices of the Boys of St. Paul’s Choir School on their new album, Christmas in Harvard Square. The only Catholic choir school for boys of its kind in the United States, the Boys of St. Paul’s Choir School, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its school, which coincides with the Nativity of Christ.  The choir, which has performed at Carnegie Hall and in St. Peter’s Square at a papal audience with Pope Francis, has been under the direction of John Robinson, who hails from the U.K. and came up in the boys choir schools in Cambridge, U.K. The 19-track album, which runs 61: 04 minutes, contains both traditional and contemporary arrangements, including some original arrangements by John Robinson, director of music and at the Choir School and the parish of St. Paul. The album features such traditional favorites as: O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, In the Bleak of Midwinter, and...

Michael Moore Makes a "Christian" Movie?

Fr. Jonathan Morris discusses Michael Moore's new movie "Capitalism: A Love Story" and points out the movie-maker's hypocrisy in using capitalistic tools to make and promote this film.

Christmas is over... now what?

Today is the feast of the Baptism of the Lord and last day of the Christmas season. It's now time to take down the decorations. There always seems to be such an emptiness and a void when this happens. I feel it when I go into church and when I look around our home. Something seems to be missing. Where is the joy -- the festivity? The joy is forever imprinted on our hearts because we are Christians. However, it should not remain hidden there, but be shared with everyone we know. We need to continue to celebrate the love that we have in our hearts at Christmas with those who so desperately need that love. Many around us crave that love. Those who are trapped in the culture of death and searching for love in "all the wrong places" are in desperate need of the hope and healing that Christ gives through us. For, we are the ones called to answer the prayers of our brothers and sisters. There are so many who are lost and lonely, crying out for help, but we remain deaf to their c...

Powerful: Alan Keyes in Denver

Alan Keyes addresses the crowd at "Power in the Park" in Denver, CO coinciding with the Democratic National Convention. I especially like the part where he talks about St. Thomas Aquinas. This is powerful!

Jordin Sparks: A Pro-life American Idol Winner

Here's 17- year- old Jordin Sparks singing her heart out at the American Idol Finale. I love to hear her sing Martina McBride's "A Broken Wing". Yes, she is a both a Christian and a pro-lifer, who wears a purity ring, which is her pledge that True Love Waits , or that she will remain pure and chaste for her husband on their wedding night. This is awesome! I had been cheering for her long before I discovered she was a young woman with strong morals and Christian beliefs, because of her incredible gift of music. She seemed so confident and mature for someone so young and performed consistently well throughout the competition. Check out Leticia's post at causa nostrae laetitiae and this post at LifesiteNews.Com for more information and photos. I hope and pray that her newfound fame won't change her. She's a winner that's for sure! Previous Post: Jordin Sparks: A Pro-life American Idol
