The View Reaches a New Low from Catholic Media Review . I never watch this program (for lots of good reasons) but Christine has a report up which will blow your mind.

BILL MAHER WANTS A BRAWL On the January 4 edition of the NBC show “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” Bill Maher commented on a remark about religion that was allegedly made by presidential contender Mitt Romney. In the course of his comments, Maher said the following: “You can’t be a rational person six days of the week and put on a suit and make rational decisions and go to work and, on one day of the week, go to a building and think you’re drinking the blood of a 2,000-year-old space god. With the world premiere of Phillip Pullman's Golden Compass is scheduled in London tonight, Pullman had some nasty comments to make about those Catholics who plan to boycott the film due to its deceptive "atheist agenda" targeting children, calling them "nitwits". In response to Catholic League's Bill Donohue's recommendation to boycott the "atheistic" film Pullman was quoted by Newsweek as saying, "To regard it as this Donohue man has said - that I'm a militant atheist, and my intention is to convert people - how the hell does he know that?" Miller Brewing Company has issued a formal apology for the offense caused by the use of Miller brand logos on a poster promoting the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. The company said it has taken action to ensure that such an incident will not happen again. However, Catholic League President Bill Donohue finds the apology "insulting". Joni Mitchell is back after nine years, and she’s on the attack. In the title track to her new album, “Shine,” Mitchell takes a nice swipe at the Catholic Church by name. “Shine on the Catholic Church/And the prisons that it owns,” she sings. “Shine on all the Churches/that love less and less.” My Comment: I don't have a clue as to what she is referring to here. Does anyone have any idea of what to make of this?

Asked by "Today" show host Meredith Vieira about his recent bigoted jokes concerning Catholic priests , Robin Williams expressed no remorse for labeling all Catholic priests as pedophiles. (He has acknowledged that he wouldn't treat other religions the same way for fear of being blown up.) Williams defended his unfair stereotyping of priests saying, "It's my job as a comic sometimes to keep going...it's not like it [the sex abuse scandal] didn't exist." I used to like Robin Williams, when he played Mork on Mindy and Mork (the TV sci-fi sitcom from 1978 - 1982) and I have enjoyed his performances in such films as Good Morning Viet Nam, Dead Poet's Society, and Awakenings, but over the years, his humor has gotten really raunchy. Raised as an Episopalian, Williams has taken a turn for the worse as illustrated by his appearance on the Jay Leno Show the other night. Williams went off on Catholic priests, painting them all as pedophiles. Williams also put his hand over his groin, saying, “You have to realize that if you are a Catholic priest, you have retired this. On today’s edition of the ABC show, “The View,” the discussion turned to the Supreme Court’s ruling yesterday affirming the partial-birth abortion ban. In an angry tone, Rosie O’Donnell asked, “You know what concerns me? How many of the Supreme Court judges are Catholic, Barbara?” Walters responded, “Five.” O’Donnell: “Five. Five are Catholic. Separation of church and state, America.” Walters then said that when the Catholic justices were vetted, they said they would not vote in a particular way because of their religion.
