This sounds great and my best wishes to him! He has quite a fight ahead of him. My hopes and prayers are that all of the states in our country will follow his lead! An Illinois state legislator is leading a move during the final weeks of the legislative session to cut funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business out of the state budget. Rep. David Reis says that, with the economy in bad shape, now is not the time to spend tax dollars funding the pro-abortion group. (Is there ever a time that funding abortions is OK?) As Illinois general revenue fund revenues continue to deteriorate and the state budget outlook for the next fiscal year for the state shows substantial red ink, Reis says cutting Planned Parenthood funds makes sense. Answer: Why, of course! This week, thousands of people are getting stimulus checks in the mail. The problem is that a lot of them are dead. A Long Island woman was shocked when she checked the mail and received a letter from the U.S. Treasury -- but it wasn't for her. Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He'd been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United Stated for a seven-month visit in 1969. The Santopadres are not alone. The Social Security Administration, which sent out 52 million checks, says that some of those checks mistakenly went to dead people because the agency had no record of their death. I agree with The Anchoress , who believes that "the package does not seem to create many jobs at all - but it does keep shoveling money at the people who waste it while producing nothing and creating few jobs ." The stimulus bill is now approaching 900 billion dollars and the money is being wasted. More than 70,000 layoffs were announced this week and fresh data showed unemployment last month rose in all states. Why isn't this money being spent to help those of us who are suffering as a result of the bail-out? We need a stimulus program that will actually stimulate and encourage economic growth rather than support Obama's favorite social programs.
