7 QTs: A Mission, Valentine's Day, Lent

Image
1 .  This week, Father Jacques Philippe was the speaker at our three-day parish mission. He spoke on the topic of Spiritual Poverty.  Each day, I went to Mass and Communion and then returned in the evening for his 1 -- 1 and 1/2 hour talk and Eucharistic Adoration followed. It was so spiritually enriching and inspiring! I have read three of his books now and am starting on the fourth -- his newest book -- Thirsting for Prayer . (I am on the right in the photo above.) 2. This week we also celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes , which was the 12th anniversary of my Marian Consecration, or more accurately my Consecration to Jesus through Mary via the St. Louis de Montfort method. This is a special Marian feast day for me. 3. Another speaker, I was privilleged to hear recently was Dr. Ralph Martin . He was wonderful, as usual. His topic was the New Evangelization. I am eager to read his book on the New Evangelization, The Urgency of the New Evangeli...

A Valentine's Daa... no a Lenten reflection Catholic Carnival

Image
is being hosted by Ebeth at A Catholic Mom Climbing the Pillars this week and it's just beautiful! With tomorrow marking her and her husband's 15th wedding anniversary, Ebeth was excited to have a Valentine's Day carnival. However, it was not to be. Not one Valentine-themed post was submitted. They are all on Lent , which is really a great Valentine in itself. Lent is the time we become intimate with the Lord, who gave His love for us that we might share it with one another. However, I do feel for Ebeth, so let's all send her and her dear knight - in - shining armour a special Valentine's anniversary card to let her know we're thinking of them on their fifteenth anniversary and to encourage and support them in their love for one another. Happy 15th anniversary, Doug and Ebeth!

Happy Valentines Day, everyone! I am hoping you will all have a day filled with God's blessings. As my valentine to you, I will be saying a prayer for each of you today during my time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration - my Eternal Love. Happy Valentines Day to my sweetheart, Bill. I can't even begin to tell you what a blessing you are to me. I'm looking forward to our special time together this evening. On a lighter note, one of my favorite treats for Valentine's Day is dark chocolate (70% cocoa) - the key to my heart. What are some of your favorite treats for Valentines Day? Read about St. Valentine here and here . Have a beautiful day!

Students prepare for Annual Day of Purity, Feb. 14

( CNA ).- Students across the United States and around the world will be celebrating St. Valentine's Day by educating their peers on the value of sexual purity. Leading up to Feb. 14th, which doubles as the Fourth Annual Day of Purity, young people are promoting the choice of purity by distributing flyers, wearing Day of Purity T-shirts and LivePure wristbands, and organizing events in their schools, communities and churches. The Day of Purity, an international project of Liberty Counsel, is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of promiscuous behavior, to promote abstinence and to inform young people who have already engaged in sexual activity, that it is possible to make a fresh start and to practice abstinence. More than three million U.S. teens are infected each year with sexually transmitted diseases, and the country has the highest teen pregnancy rate among developed countries. In addition, 20 percent of the annual 1.3 million abortions in the U.S. are performed on ...
