I like children, but isn't this a bit ridiculous?

Elizabeth Adeney of Suffolk, England, is scheduled to have her first child next week by cesarean section. The pregnancy has stirred up controversy across the Atlantic because the birth will make Adeney, 66, Britain's oldest new mother. Click here to read the entire article. Fertility treatments are inconsistent with God's plans. If she really wants a child so badly, why doesn't she consider adoption? Yes, her age might be a deterrent, but if she is in good health and well - off, which she apparently is, one would think they would make an exception in her case. Also, if she adopted an older child, the child wouldn't be left without a parent at such a young age. Many grandparents today are raising their grandchildren.

Miracle Baby with 10% chance of survival goes home

Steven and Michelle Wilson were told to expect to lose both their girls after the death of Ellie at 30 days. But Chloe has defied the odds and has gone from strength to strength in hospital. Mr Wilson, 24, of South Hetton, County Durham, said: "We have waited 16 weeks for this and it feels fantastic. "It feels just right having her here in her home rather than hospital. I think we must be the only parents who are looking forward to being woken in the night." Go Here For The Full Story...... ~ Via Covenant News.

Catholic Carnival 191 is up!

Image
This week’s Catholic Carnival is up at This That and the Other Thing . The theme for this week is "The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church". Here are a few of my favorite posts there: Denise's post "The Insidious Creep of Evil" in which she writes about pre-natal diagnosis and its all too frequent bedfellow--abortion . Shawn's post " The Glory of Woman", which is about womanhood and femininity , as conveyed through the writings of Pope John Paul II and by Alice von Hildebrand. Kate Wicker's post "Baby's First Close-up", in which shares her first picture of her little one, as well as her thoughts and her feelings. There are some wonderfully inspiring posts at this week's carnival , so be sure to check out all of them!

Shocking Story: Priest gets fruit basket with fetus in cheese spread bottle

A man of the cloth and his family got the shock of their lives Monday morning after finding a four-month-old fetus hidden in a basket of fruits. Monsignor Gerry Santos had just celebrated Mass at the Quiapo Church in Manila around 9 a.m. when he received a basket of fruits from an unknown donor. "After the mass... I brought the fruits to my parents' home because it was our regular lunch and my parents' house helper showed it to me. It was inside a bottle of Cheez Whiz. Maybe it's four months old," Santos said in an interview Monday over the Church-run radio station, Radio Veritas. Santos said the aborted baby's hand and feet were already formed. He said a rosary was also placed inside the cheese spread bottle, which was hidden in a pile of apple and bananas. He said his family wasn’t able to continue eating lunch after the shocking discovery. His parents were "very disturbed" and "traumatized" by the experience. After recovering from the tr...

Baby Samuel Today With His Photographer Michael Clancy

Image
Michael Clancy, the photographer who snapped the photo in 1999 of Baby Samuel Armas reaching out of his mother's uterus to hold the finger of his surgeon, attended a pregnancy care center banquet last month, where he and Samuel's mother Julie spoke. Here is a photo of Samuel and Michael, taken in March 2007. Michael wrote this is an email to Jill Stanek: "It was a God moment when at the end of her presentation, Samuel, at seven years old, climbed the stairs and took his place beside her at the podium. A standing ovation ensued and it was one of several times that night I more than teared up, I cried." Also, since the airing of the April 3 House MD episode, wherein the top photo was reenacted, controversy has restirred about the photo, as Annie chronicled on PLB . Michael Clancy responds to those criticisms here . Read my post about House, M.D. here . Via Jill Stanek and Pro-life Blogs.

An In-House Miracle - Updated

I normally watch House about twice a year, but since I have been sick at home and have had little energy to do much of anything, I told my dh Bill to keep it on as the show looked interesting. It was the most pro-life program I have ever watched on TV and was very appealing. My eyes were glued to the screen. I was making comments (which I rarely do while watching TV) and was cheering on the mother, Dr. Lisa Cuddy, and especially the baby. Here is how Fox describes this episode: PHOTOGRAPHER'S UNBORN CHILD ENDANGERS HER HEALTH, THE TEAM MUST TAKE ACTION BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE TO SAVE EITHER OF THEM ON "HOUSE" TUESDAY, APRIL 3, ON FOX Anne Ramsay and Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects) Guest-Star A famous, 42-year-old, pregnant photographer, Emma Sloan (guest star Anne Ramsay), is brought to the hospital after suffering a stroke in the middle of a high-profile photo shoot with Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects). Although Emma's condition initially stabilizes, her healt...

My Baby

Image
Here she is - my Jasmine. As you can see she is a long-haired calico, 3 years old. She will be four in August. Since we don't know exactly when she was born, we celebrate our birthdays together. She's being quietly obedient in the first photo and is singing to me in the second one. She's very funny and very affectionate. Anyone care to submit a funny caption for the second photo?

Sofia: The Miracle Baby

Judie Brown shares the heart-warming story of baby Sofia with us: "Sofia's mother, Yvonne Alomia, told a reporter, that although her pregnancy was difficult she knew that everything would be all right." Alomia feels that her difficult pregnancy was planned by God so she and her husband would "reach out to people who have had abortions and convince them of God's infinite mercy and to let people know it is wrong to abort." Sofia was born on the 33rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade/Doe v. Bolton.
