Former Supreme Court nominee Judge Robert Bork has predicted that upcoming legal battles will have significant ramifications for religious freedom. He names as issues of major concern the continued freedom of Catholic hospitals to refuse to perform abortions and the likely “terrible conflict” resulting from the advancement of homosexual rights. Speaking in an interview published Tuesday by Cybercast News Service, Judge Bork discussed the contentious nature of modern politics. “Everything is up for debate these days. Omaha, NE - On Saturday, October 11, 2008, Mary Adam, 72, was knocked to the ground and injured outside a Bellevue, Nebraska abortion clinic by the angry mother of a woman who Mary had turned away from the clinic the previous day. The woman had returned with her daughter to insure that she received an abortion, even though the daughter expressed hesitancy to Mary on Friday and indicated to her an interest in placing her baby for adoption. Mary was rushed to a nearby hospital and was treated for a bump on the head and other minor injuries for which she is still suffering pain. She is recovering at home. The incident began on Friday, when two sisters arrived at the abortion clinic owned by the infamous partial-birth abortionist LeRoy Carhart.
