While other vaccines protect against diseases spread by casual contact, Gardasil was developed to protect against a sexually transmitted disease called Human Papilloma Virus or HPV. Merck & Co., the manufacturer, has been very effective at lobbying governments around the world to make the vaccine mandatory for school attendance. Despite the frequent objections of doctors and parents, it has been administered to tens of millions of 11- and 12-year-old young girls around the world. Now comes the case of a 16-year-old Australian girl who suffered "premature ovarian failure" after receiving Gardasil. The Gardasil vaccine has been linked to 78 outbreaks of genital warts, according to an article in The Fiji Times entitled "Are our girls guinea pigs?" by Matelita Ragogo. That's right. In addition to all of the other adverse reactions to this controversial vaccine, children who receive it are subject to outbreaks of genital warts. Unfortunately, not too many doctors take the time to educate parents about some of these possible reactions prior to giving little girls this expensive jab. While genital warts are certainly disgusting, parents who think that genital warts are the worst possible adverse reaction to the vaccine should think again. According to Ragogo, as of August 14, including the 78 outbreaks of genital warts, there have been 9,748 adverse events reported as per Judicial Watch, a non-profit watchdog group. A new report has revealed that Merck & Co., which was lobbying aggressively for all states to impose laws requiring that young girls be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted disease with its vaccine, was told by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to back off. According to a Washington Times report , Dr. Jon Abramson, of the CDC's advisory committee on immunization practices, said the message was given to Merck officials. "I told Merck my personal opinion that it shouldn't be mandated," Abramson told the newspaper. "And they heard it from other committee members." Concerned Women of America has recently posted its views on lawmakers mandating the vacine for HPV on its website: Concerned Women for America does not object to the new vaccine that protects against certain strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV, a sexually transmitted disease that can cause cervical cancer in women. Proponents of the vaccine, however, wrongly wish to compel every young girl from 9-11 years old to be vaccinated before she attends school. Concerned Women for America is committed to support, protect and advocate the God-given right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Parents know what is best for their daughters and if given the information about this disease will make the best decision for the health of their child.
