My Favorite Eucharistic Quotes

Image
For every Christian generation, the Eucharist is indispensable food that sustains us as we cross the desert of this world, dried by ideological and economic systems that do not promote life, but repress it. A world in which the logic of power and possession dominates, instead of the logic of service and love; a world in which the culture of violence and death often triumphs." ~ Pope Benedict XVI, in his homily on the feast of Corpus Christi "Every time we celebrate the Eucharist in the Church, we recall the death of the Savior, we proclaim his Resurrection as we await his return. Thus no sacrament is greater or more precious than that of the Eucharist; and when we receive Communion, we are incorporated into Christ. Our life is transformed and taken up by the Lord." "The Eucharistic mystery is in fact the "summit of evangelization" (Lumen gentium, n. 28), for it is the most eminent testimony to Christ's Resurrection. " ~ Pope John Paul II, May 28, ...

Today's Intercessory Prayers

Image
Today, during Eucharistic Adoration, I prayed for the following special intentions: For the Holy Father's special intentions. For an end to abortion and the protection of all human life. For Fr. JM's special intentions and for all those of the Community of St. John. For those priests and brothers I have "spiritually adopted". For Seminarian Matthew's special intentions. For special blessings for Esther and Dan on their 15th Anniversary . For safe travel for our family who will be visiting us over the weekend and for a happy reunion. For Bill's special intentions. For all the prayer requests at One Came Back . For the conversion of all those entrenched in the culture of death. For those whose arrogance blinds them to their need for salvation. For those whose flight from death through pleasure, work, and posessions keeps them from the joy of placing all their hope in God. For MM's special intentions. All previous prayer requests mentioned here and those of a...

Prayer Request: Childrens' Eucharist Adoration Program Under Attack

Many of you are already familiar with the Community of St. John 's Eucharistic Adoration program for children, "Children of Hope" led by Fr. Antoine, (who is a regular guest on EWTN and has filmed several series for them, as well as appearing on "Life on the Rock", “Mother Angelica Live”, and traveling throughout the United States and the world, implementing this program in parishes) but for those of you who are not, this is a wonderfully inspirational video about it. As an Oblate with the Community of St. John, I have seen this program in action firsthand and it is so beautiful to see the children grow in their love for the Lord through it. Recently, it has been under heavy criticism from Margaret C. Galitzin who authored "Muslim-Style Adoration for Catholic Children." When I read this I was shocked - I could not believe that anyone would oppose such a beautifully sacred program for children, which helps them grow so much in holiness and in their lov...

Lifting You Up in My Prayers

Image
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been ill. The chronic pain of arthritis and fibromyalgia syndrome along with related stress has been keeping me from blogging lately. I did, however, make it to Eucharistic Adoration and Mass today and prayed for all your requests. I need to rest now. Thanks for visiting. God bless you abundantly! Be sure and visit Catholic Carnival 145.

Papal Quote of the Day

"In modern life, which is so often noisy and distracting, it is more than ever important to recover the capacity for inner silence and prayer. Eucharistic adoration enables this to happen, not only around 'me,' but also in the company of the 'you' full of love that is Jesus Christ." ~ Pope Benedict XVI
