Prayer for our Nation's Health Care Reform

Image
Lord Jesus, you are the Divine Physician, And the source of all life and health. Guide our nation at this critical moment, As our government seeks health care reforms. Give our elected officials the humility to know That they are servants, not masters. Give them the wisdom to realize That every life has equal value. Give them the strength to resist the idea That some lives can be sacrificed to save others Or that killing the unborn is a part of health care. Give your people the courage to speak up And to hold public officials accountable for their actions. Save us, Lord Jesus, from a culture of death, And let every reform in our public policy Be based on the reform of our hearts and minds In the light of your Gospel, For you are Lord forever and ever. Amen.  ~ Via Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life

Fr. Frank Pavone: Assisted Suicide Violates Human Dignity

Image
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented today on the pending Montana Supreme Court case that could establish a so called state constitutional right to assisted suicide. "Assisted suicide is an act that violates the victim's dignity," said Fr. Pavone.  "It is a declaration that a person's life is worthless and devoid of respect.  If the Montana constitution states that the dignity of every human is inviolable, then there can be no room in that constitution for the protection of a fabricated 'right' that threatens the very existence of the disabled and medically vulnerable."

Planned Parenthood Sues to Prevent Parental Notification

Image
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said today that Planned Parenthood of Alaska's lawsuit to prevent a parental notification for abortion initiative from ever being voted upon reflects the group's anti-parent mindset. "Planned Parenthood doesn't want parents to know what it's doing to their daughters or their unborn grandchildren," said Fr. Pavone, "because it thinks it knows better than parents what's good for young girls. This lawsuit is one more example of Planned Parenthood's anti-parent bias." Source

Massive Spiritual Bouquet Being Prepared for the "Year for Priests"

Image
New York - Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, announced today that Priests for Life is inviting the laity to prepare a massive spiritual bouquet which will be presented this Fall to all the priests of the country. The faithful are invited to pledge prayers, rosaries, chaplets, holy hours, and sacrifices for priests, that they may be protected in body and spirit, and may grow in holiness and in the fruitfulness of their ministry. This can be done at www.YearofPriests.org . "Priests are heralds of the Gospel of Life, and are called to stir up the gifts of God's people to build the culture of life. In our day, when restoring protection for the right to life is the top moral imperative, the Catholic faithful thirst in a particular way for the leadership of priests in this arena, and eagerly pray for it," Fr. Pavone added. Along with pledging a spiritual bouquet, people are invited to share their stories about their favorite priests.

Dr. Alveda King Calls Comparison of Tiller to Dr. Martin Luther King “Offensive beyond Belief”

Image
Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today reacted to remarks by late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart that compared the killing of George Tiller to the assassination of her uncle. “For LeRoy Carhart to mention the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who worked through peaceful and non-violent means, in the same breath with that of George Tiller, whose work ended peace and brought violence to babies in the womb, is offensive beyond belief,” said Dr. King. “The analogy is just wrong.” “Dr. Carhart also speaks of hate crimes,” added Dr. King. “I would simply ask him, is it not hateful to regard an entire class of people as non-human because they’re unwanted?” Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, also commented, “The message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was that every human being has equal dignity. LeRoy Carhart and every other abortionist violate that message every time they dismember a baby. The comp...

Happy Feast of the Most Holy Trinity!

Image
The Feast of the Holy Trinity is celebrated on the First Sunday after Pentecost. The dogma of faith which forms the object of the feast is this: There is one God and in this one God there are three divine Persons; the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God. "O eternal Trinity, You are a deep sea in which the more I seek the more I find, and the more I find, the more I seek to know You. You fill us insatiably, because the soul, before the abyss which You are, is always famished; and hungering for You, O eternal Trinity, it desires to behold truth in Your light. As the thirsty heart pants after the fount of living water, so does my soul long to leave this gloomy body and see You as You are, in truth." ~ St. Catherine of Siena Fr. Frank Pavone's brief homily / meditation for The Feast of the Holy Trinity. Meditation on The Trinity: St. Teresa of Avila

Fr. Frank Pavone on Judge Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court Nomination

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, says he has just one question about Judge Sonia Sotomayor as she is nominated by President Obama for the Supreme Court: "Does justice include the right to tear the arms and legs off of babies, crush their skulls, and treat them as medical waste?" "We all draw the line somewhere. An avowed racist or anti-Semite is not acceptable on the Supreme Court. Why should we give a pass to the violence of abortion?"

The Audacity of Obama Speaking at Notre Dame Just Might be His Downfall

Image
I'm pleased to see that many prominent and well-respected Catholics and pro-lifers are speaking out and protesting the Notre Dame scandal now, as commencement ceremonies draw near. In "The Audacity to Speak: Thoughts on Why Obama Should Excuse Himself from Notre Dame's Commencement Ceremonies", Day Gardner of National Black Pro-Life Union, comments, "I am baffled at the audacity of Barack who insists on speaking at this graduation even if graduating students don't want him there. President Obama doesn't get it. His ego is so big that he has no problem forcing himself on the students and faculty of Notre Dame. A man of greater stature would simply have excused himself--in order to maintain decorum and dignity." The majority of students don't want him there nor do the alumni. So, why is he not bowing out? Is it to cause even more division in the Catholic Church? Is he trying to exert his power and authority over the Catholic sector? Whatever the r...

Fr. Frank Pavone to go to Notre Dame to Lead Alternate Ceremony

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, has been invited by Notre Dame graduates to join them in prayer Sunday as they boycott their own commencement and instead have a prayer vigil for life. Fr. Frank also proposes some other action items. Questions: Will Fr. Frank be jailed, too, or will he be considered a guest of the Notre Dame students? If the Bishop of the diocese participates in this alternate ceremony will he be jailed too, like Alan Keyes? I wonder if other priests, deacons or religious participate in this if they, too, will be imprisoned while the "King of the Culture of Death" receives an award ? Priests for Life has also opened a statement against the Notre Dame scandal to all priests and deacons wishing to sign it. Fr. Pavone, Alveda King Call for Passage of Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act

Atlanta, GA – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, together with Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are calling for passage of the recently re-introduced Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act. "Sex selection abortions are a reality in the United States,” said Dr. King. “And last year we saw that Planned Parenthood was willing to accept donations earmarked for the abortion of only African American babies. While few doctors would admit that they perform abortions because they or babies’ parents are motivated by sexual or racial prejudice, the reality is that such abortions occur. These womb lynchings must stop.” Fr. Pavone added, “It would be difficult for abortion advocates to oppose this legislation without revealing that their loyalty is not with the woman seeking an abortion, but with the abortion industry that profits in the process. It will be fascinating to hear the verbal gymnastics that our Presi...

Catholic Priests to Perform Exorcism at Abortion Clinic

ROCKFORD -- Catholic priests from the Rockford diocese will perform an exorcism Monday at a Rockford abortion clinic. The Rev. Brian Geary, pastor at St. James in Belvidere, stressed that the priests won't be casting demons out of individuals, as popularly depicted on television and film. But he did say the clinic was "infested by evil" and needed to be cleansed. The Northern Illinois Women's Center, 1400 Broadway, was closed this weekend. But their Web site advises women to ignore protestors who are commonly seen in the area. Click Here For The Full Story...... ~Via CovenantNews.Com . I haven't been to this abortion mill yet, but I am familiar with it and do know that it has quite a reputation. It definitely needs exorcism, as do all our abortion mills. In fact, we could use a team of priests to make that their work on a full-time basis. I wonder if Fr. Frank Pavone has thought of that? Thinking about this led me to discovering this recent news: Fr. Thomas Eutene...

Grown up Christmas List

Image
By Fr. Frank Pavone National Director, Priests for Life One of the Christmas songs you'll hear on the radio during these days is called "Grown-up Christmas List." It speaks of the fact that age does not stop us from dreaming, and that as life goes on, our wishes at Christmas are not for ourselves, "but for a world in need." The list begins, "No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start...that right would always win." Do we dare to hope for these things, just because the calendar says December 25 is approaching? Indeed, the question for a Christian is, "How we can dare not to hope for these things?" Christmas lists, after all, spring from Christmas hope, and Christmas hope is based on an historical fact: God has already given us everything in His Son. St. Paul asks, "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (Rom. 8:32). We look for good...
