Hillary and Obama Slam Supreme Court on Abortion Ruling

Image
Hillary and Obama perform for pro-aborts WASHINGTON (Reuters) Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama criticized recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions as hypocritical and inconsistent on Tuesday, saying a ruling upholding a late-term abortion ban was part of a concerted effort to roll back women's rights. Senator Obama, is it a woman's right to destroy her body and undergo the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual trauma of abortion? Doesn't a woman also possess the right to protect her body? Doesn't a woman also have the right to be informed about the horrific consequences of an abortion? Doesn't she have the right to be told the truth: that it is a baby that will be killed in this procedure and not a piece of tissue? Doesn't the child that is growing and developing in the mother's womb also have a right to life? How would you feel if your own mother had exercised her "right" to abort you? CATHOLIC LEAGUE: BIGOTS ASSAIL CATHOLICS ON HIGH COURT

Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on those who are unhappy with Catholics on the Supreme Court: “On Wednesday, when the U.S. Supreme Court said no to partial-birth abortion, I wrote, ‘We are waiting for the anti-Catholic bigots to go bonkers over the fact that all five of the justices who voted against infanticide are Roman Catholic.’ I didn’t have to wait long before Rosie O’Donnell made yet another splash bitching about all the Catholics on the high court. Now she has been joined by American Atheist bloggers, Tony Auth and Julianne Malveaux. “American Atheist bloggers are saying that outlawing some instances of infanticide is ‘very bad news for all women in the United States, all gays and lesbians in the United States, and of course, anyone else not Catholic, especially Freethinkers, Agnostics, and Atheists.’ Blogger Dave assumes that everyone who is not Catholic is upset with the Supreme Court’s decision. Has he not heard of Nancy Pelosi? And don’t gays want gay...

Fr. Frank Pavone: The State’s Interest in Life

Today the Supreme Court upheld the ban on partial-birth abortion that was enacted by Congress and signed into law by President Bush in 2003. This is a day of historic progress for the pro-life cause, whose ultimate goal is to restore protection to every unborn child, at every stage of development. Today, for the first time since Roe vs. Wade, the United States of America has actually banned an abortion procedure, rather than just regulated it. The pro-abortion forces attempted to strike down the ban because it does not have a health exception. The Court, however, said that the ban’s opponents failed to demonstrate that the need for a health exception was extensive enough to render the law unconstitutional. The Court also rejected the arguments that the ban is too broad or too vague. The wording of the ban is clear enough for abortionists to know when they are and are not violating the law. The decision in this case is refreshing to read, because it emphasizes that the state has a legit...

SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS BAN ON PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION

PRAISE THE LORD! I just received this News Alert from Fidelis: Fidelis is pleased to report that the United States Supreme Court this morning issued its decision upholding the nationwide ban on partial birth abortion. The justices ruled 5-4, with Justice Kennedy authoring the opinion. The ruling upholds the law passed by Congress and signed by President Bush in 2003. Justice Kennedy, writing for the majority wrote, “The government has a legitimate and substantial interest in preserving and promoting fetal life.” Joining Justice Kennedy were Chief Justice Roberts, and Associate Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito. The opinion can be read here. More to come...
