Join in the International Week of Prayer and Fasting September 20-28

Image
With the current state of affairs with Christians abroad (ISIS brutally executing numerous Christians, including the most recent beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff, and now is targeting Pope Francis), many Christians are left wondering, “What can we do to help our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their beliefs?” This event has a very real call to action which we all can join in on. The International Prayer and Fasting Coalition is urging people of all faiths to a worldwide prayer and fasting campaign for peace from September 20-28, 2014. The week formally begins on September 20 with an All Day Prayer Vigil at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Guest speakers for the kick-off event include Dr. Scott Hahn , popular speaker and teacher on a wide variety of topics related to Scripture and the Catholic faith; Johnnette Benkovic , founder and president of Women of Grace and Living His Life Abundan...

USCCB: pray, fast for those challenging the HHS mandate

Image
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is asking Catholics to pray, fast, and abstain from meat on Fridays in Januar, for the following intention: “that all those who are challenging the HHS mandate – whether family-owned businesses or non-profit service ministries – would have the strength to keep fighting for religious freedom.” “The federal government has chosen this January 1 to begin implementing its nationwide mandate forcing most Catholic universities, hospitals, and service ministries to violate Church teaching or face devastating fines,” USCCB staff stated in a reflection accompanying the intention. “Faith-based organizations like these seek to practice what they preach. That is, they seek to live out the Gospel mandate to serve those whom Christ called ‘these least brothers of mine’ (Mt. 25:40) while adhering to the tenets of our faith—including promoting the sanctity of human life. We pray that the courts will uphold our ability to live out the Gosp...

Abortion Opponents Launch Massive Grassroots Mobilization in 212 Cities

Starting tomorrow, and continuing through November 1, tens of thousands of faithful people in 212 cities -- across 45 American states, five Canadian provinces, and Denmark -- will conduct a unified 40-day campaign of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, peaceful vigils outside abortion facilities and Planned Parenthood offices, and grassroots community organizing," said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life. 40 Days for Life is a pro-life initiative that burst onto the national scene just two years ago and has already mobilized more than 215,000 people in 240 cities across all 50 American states and several other countries during four previous coordinated campaigns, saving 1,561 lives from abortion. This fall's 40 Days for Life campaign, the group's largest to date, will be the most widespread and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history. Dozens of the largest pro-life and pro-family organizations and many prominent religious leaders, in...

What is God calling me to do on this 36th anniversary of Roe V. Wade?

Image
On January 20, 2009, Barack Hussein Obama, the most pro-death president in our country’s history, will be sworn into office. 2009 will be remembered as one of the most challenging years for the pro-life movement. For, Barack Hussein Obama emphatically promised more than a year ago, "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." The Freedom of Choice Act is a sweeping bill that would abolish all pro-life regulations across the nation, from parental notification laws to bans on federal funding of abortions. It would not only make unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy a national law but it would overturn the laws in all 50 states designed to reduce abortions. Today we commemorate Sanctity of life Sunday and this coming Thursday we celebrate the 36th anniversary of Roe V Wade. This is the year that I wanted more than ever to go to Washington DC to participate in the March for Life. This is the year that I wanted to protest the mass slaughter o...

Election Countdown: Ten Ways to Prepare Ourselves for the Final Battle in this Spiritual War

Image
By Jean M. Heimann We’re in the process of counting down the hours for this upcoming election. Most of us have been praying and fasting for some time now. We have also been working hard to spread the truth about both Obama and McCain and their positions, particularly on pro-life issues. While Obama is an extremist in the area of pro-life, strongly opposing every human life issue, McCain is pro-life on all of the issues, but one. Biden is also 100% pro-death, while Sarah Palin is 100% pro-life. What can we do in these final days to promote pro-life candidates in the November 4 elections? 1. Continue to pray and fast until the elections are over. 2. Take the day off on Election Day. Volunteer to help in a campaign for pro-life campaign making last minute phone calls or driving others to the polling places. 3. Remind others to vote. 4. Spend as much time as you are able to in Eucharistic Adoration on Election Day, without neglecting the duties of your vocation. Prior to voting, go to Con...

National Days of Prayer and Fasting

November 3rd and 4th – National Days of Prayer & Fasting Just as our forefathers did in founding this great nation, we declare that we are one nation under God, and recognize that under God’s care we remain. At this crucial time of transition, please join your fellow Americans in lifting our eyes, our hearts and our prayers to our Heavenly Father, pleading for His mercy. PRAYER and FASTING I NTENTIONS That all U.S. citizens will be graced with the awareness that the greatest right is the right to life, and that each individual will protect this right above all others in faithfulness to their God, their country, and to all of humanity. For the election of a President who will do everything possible to secure the right to life for every human life - from conception to natural death. For the defeat of all candidates who promote, support, or advocate in any way, a culture of death. That all of our elected leaders be inspired by God to work to protect the pre-born, the innocent, hel...
