I received the following information from our esteemed pro-life Kansas State Senator Tim Huelskamp, following Governor Parkinson's veto of the bill to defund Planned Parenthood : (It was quite enlightening to me, as I have only lived in KS for about 3 1/2 years.) Back after George Bush was first elected in 2000, Mark Parkinson rushed forward and campaigned to serve as chairman of the Kansas Republican Party. He was elected to that job and promised to represent faithfully the values of the Republican Party. Less than two years later, Parkinson was still the Republican Chairman when Kathleen Sebelius was elected Governor of Kansas. And after only just another three years - Mark Parkinson was Governor Sebelius' running mate! So much for integrity... Given this less-than-principled background, I guess it was too much to expect that Governor Parkinson would somehow stand up for simple, honest-to-goodness family values when it comes to the issue of defunding Planne...

It appears the Senate will likely vote on a pro-life amendment to cut federal funding of Planned Parenthood early next week. The vote will likely occur on either Monday or Tuesday as the Senate continues its debate on the omnibus spending bill that also funds the nation's largest abortion business. Senate leaders today agreed to allow votes on several Republican-sponsored amendments to the omnibus spending bill next week. Among those is an amendment sponsored by pro-life Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana prevent taxpayers from having their money sent from the federal government to Planned Parenthood. Article ACTION: Contact your members of the Senate and urge strong support for the Vitter amendment to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood. Now, here's one senator I wholeheartedly support: Republican Senator Tim Huelskamp explains why he believes it is time to drop funding of the abortion provider. "Planned Parenthood has been under criminal investigation for nearly a year now, and they've found probable cause to have committed 107 misdemeanor and felony counts in our state," he contends.
