Pro-life Third Party: A Solution to the Presidential Election Dilemma?

The Catholic Knight : There is only one recipe for success of the viable third party in American politics - especially a Pro-Life third party. It would have to be a Centrist party -- either Center Right or Center Left. The reason for this is to insure that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats gain an advantage from the creation of a third party. A new third party would have to draw people from both sides of the Left-Right debate. It would have to siphon off just as many Democrats as Republicans. Read the entire story here. Interesting concept, but would it work?

Check out Chelsea's post here to see why she's so excited. Go here to read her report on the Values Voter Debate. Chelsea is an amazing young Catholic woman who is a pro-life coordinator for her parish, on the Confirmation team for her parish, and is a member of the Legion of Mary. Her posts on pro-life issues and spirituality are enlightening! She is a daily inspiration to me. I have recently added her blogs Reflections of a Paralytic and Path to Holiness to my sidebar.

Blogging Around: Culture of Life

I'm sending this post through a second time, as Technorati did not pick it up the first time. The Curt Jester posts his review on Christopher West's latest book, The Love That Satisfies. This is a book I have been wanting to read, so I was happy to hear him refer to it as "a wonderful book." Paul at Thoughts of a Regular Guy: Let me set the scene. A pair of homosexual drug dealers, Roberts & Mangini, were convicted, jailed and then paroled. One of the conditions of their probation was that they can't associate with other felons, including each other (this rule is known as Standard Condition No. 9). They sued, with the help of the (of course!) ACLU, on the grounds that they were spouses... Read more here. Wolftracker at Kansas City Catholic posts on Cures without Cloning, reporting on an effort that is underway in MO to right a wrong. "Homosexuality is death and I choose life"

Cosmos-Liturgy-Sex posts on Michael Glatze, the founding editor of Young Gay America magazine who now says "coming out’ from under the influence of the homosexual mindset was the most liberating, beautiful and astonishing thing I’ve ever experienced in my entire life." Via: The Curt Jester. My Comments: A few weeks ago I was actually looking for a conversion story like this, but couldn't find one (at least not on the Internet search at that time). I kept feeling like God was answering my prayers for the conversion of those living in the "culture of death" and that I would actually be able to see the results soon. Although many are drawn to the light it is not often that we see the results of our prayer, but here is one powerful and precious miracle for all of us who have been persistent in our prayer life to rejoice in.

The First Martyrs of Rome & The Fight for Life

Image
The Coliseum Rome, Italy From My Photo Collection February, 2006 The holy men and women are also called the “Protomartyrs of Rome.” They were accused of burning Rome by Nero, who burned Rome to cover his own crimes. Some martyrs were burned as living torches at evening banquets, some crucified, others were fed to wild animals. These martyrs died before Sts. Peter and Paul, and are called “disciples of the Apostles. . . whom the Holy Roman church sent to their Lord before the Apostles’ death.” As I write about the Christian martyrs, I can't help but reflect on the time I spent with my Community in prayer and thanksgiving for their sacrifice and their great faith while visiting the Coliseum in Italy in February, 2006. I felt such a strong sense of their presence as I envisioned these innocent, defenseless victims being tossed into this huge arena to be devoured by the lions while thousands of pagan spectators entertained themselves, drinking and eating to excess, sittin...
