Here is a preview of the 2014 March for Life, an event that is expected to draw thousands of pro-life activists to Washington Jan. 21 and 22. The name of the campaign is called "Abortion is Not Health Care" and it will begin on Sunday, July 26, in Washington, D.C. A vote on the $1.5 trillion bill has been tentatively scheduled for the last week of July before the August recess. "Abortion is Not Health Care" will include public prayer vigils, rallies, lobbying, demonstrations and cutting edge pro-life witness on Capitol Hill. President Obama and his team have said that taxpayer funded abortions would be included in his health care plan. The campaign will focus on fighting to ensure that: Not one penny of public money is used to pay for abortions. The "Conscience Clause" is not removed from health providers that decline to perform abortions. No federal mandate requiring health plans to cover abortions. No state law restricting abortion would be invalidated. Planned Parenthood never becomes an "essential community health provider." "Abortion is Not Health Care"...

Wichita, KS - There will be a series of prayer and memorial events held in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday and Saturday, June 19-20 , to pray for healing and an end to abortion-related violence. Pro-life groups sponsoring this event, known as "A Time for Healing...A Time for Life" are Operation Rescue, the Washington DC based Christian Defense Coalition, and Living Word Outreach of Wichita. Rev. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition, who helped lead the 1991 "Summer of Mercy" protests in Wichita, will head the events, which include a Friday evening prayer vigil, a Saturday walk across Wichita down Kellogg Ave. to pray for peace and healing, and a memorial service at Tiller's former abortion clinic where hundreds of flowers will be placed to honor the pre-born babies who died there. Oct. 21 marked the 5th annual Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity. Students engaging the silent protest wore red duct tape reading "LIFE" over their mouths or red armbands as a way to lend their voices to the thousands of unborn babies who will never have one. They had the choice of breaking their silence to converse with a student inquiring about the event or to hand out a flyer. This year, more than 200,000 students from over 4,700 schools in 25 countries participated. Nearly 400 homeschools and non-students, including 1,100 individuals and 107 companies/ministries, also joined in. As the day rolled on, e-mails poured in with stories from the protest, and the number of women who had a change of heart kept rising. On Tuesday afternoon, Bryan Kemper, president of Stand True Ministries, which runs the protest, counted from the e-mails he received nine mothers-to-be who decided to keep their baby. Rebecca Dussault -- a friend of the Community of St. John was there with her family. She gave a wonderful witness which I will share in a later post. You can read her journal/blog here. Members of the Community of St. John who worked with the youth in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The rosary quilt with prayers to end abortion was on display and was blessed by Fr. Frank Pavone. Fr. Frank Pavone celebrated the Holy Mass and is seen here giving one of his rousing homilies.
