Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented on the decision by the California Supreme Court upholding the resolution banning same-sex marriage in California: "The shame of it all is that after the citizens of California said no to gay marriage last fall—the people always say no (the record is 30-0 in state ballot initiatives)—homosexual radicals sought to do an end-run around the democratic process and have unelected judges overrule the express will of the people. But the opponents of democracy, and common sense, lost today and that is how it should be. No one supports two men getting married save for white people who have spent too much time in the classroom."

On April 22 , the House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to mark-up a hate crimes bill sponsored by Rep. John Conyers . Serious questions have been raised by religious leaders about this legislation, especially as it pertains to religious pronouncements against homosexuality. Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue today: “The idea of being prosecuted for reading Scripture may seem delirious, but it is just as crazy to think it couldn’t happen. Consider the facts. When this bill was being considered in 2007, Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas asked Alabama Rep. Art Davis (his amendment is in the bill) the following question: ‘If a minister preaches that sexual relations outside of marriage of a man and a woman is wrong, and somebody within that congregation goes out and does an act of violence, and that person says that that minister counseled or induced him through the sermon to commit that act, are you saying under your amendment that in no way could that ever be introd...

A booklet on the upcoming movie, “Angels & Demons,” written by Catholic League president Bill Donohue, is now available . “Angels & Demons”: More Demonic Than Angelic debunks the myths, lies and smears told about the Catholic Church. The film, which opens May 15, is based on Dan Brown’s book, Angels & Demons. Ron Howard directs the movie.
