Today September 17 is the feast day of St. John Bellarmine (1542-1621). He was a Jesuit and a Doctor of the Church. Here is a beautiful quote from him about the obedience of the infant Christ. “In the first place, the obedience of Christ to His Father began with His Conception and continued uninterruptedly to His Death. The life of our Lord Jesus Christ was one perpetual act of obedience. The Soul of Christ from the moment of its creation enjoyed the exercise of its free will, was full of grace and wisdom, and consequently, even when enclosed in His Mother’s womb, was capable of practicing the virtue of obedience."
