School Secularizes the Lyrics to ‘Silent Night’

Ridgeway Elementary School in Dodgeville, Wisconsin has added a song to its “winter program” called “Cold in the Night.” Sung to the tune of “Silent Night” the lyrics are completely secularized. At the same time, the school is decorating classrooms with Santa Claus, Kwanza, and Chanukah themes, as well as pictures of Labafana (a Christmas witch). The Liberty Counsel has taken up this case of a school deliberately mocking Christianity. Bob Knight, Director of CWA’s Culture & Family Institute, has more on this battle and the overall battle to save Christmas. Click here to listen.

  1. If you do a web search for the children's musical, "The Little Tree's Christmas Gift," you will find that the song in question was written as part of this musical in the past. The administration at the school did not change the words to the beloved hymn....it is part of this musical about a little tree.... Check it out. I think everyone needs to check facts before accusing!
