Both religious groups, Catholics and Jews, were united, I presume, by the awareness that they prayed to the same God."

"Finally, true freedom is not advanced in the per missive society, which confuses freedom with licence to do anything whatever and which in the name of freedom proclaims a kind of general amorality. It is a caricature of freedom to claim that people are free to organize their lives with no reference to moral values, and to say that society does not have to ensure the protection and advancement of ethical values. birth and the moment of death."
~Evangelium Vitae

"While it is true that the taking of life not yet born or in it’s final stages is sometimes marked by a mistaken sense of altruism and human compassion it cannot be denied that such a culture of death, taken as a whole, betrays a completely individualistic concept of freedom, which ends up by becoming the freedom of " the strong" against the weak who have no choice but to submit".

"To celebrate the Eucharist "to eat his flesh and drink his blood", means to accept the wisdom of the Cross and the path of service. It means that we signal our willingness to sacrifice ourselves for others, as Christ has done. Our society desperately needs this sign, and young people need it even more so, tempted as they often are by the illusion of an easy and comfortable life, by drugs and pleasure-seeking, only to find themselves in a spiral of despair, meaninglessness and violence. It is urgent to change direction and to turn to Christ. This is the way of justice, solidarity and commitment to building a society and a future worthy of the human person."

  2. I am not a catholic, but I must say that John Paul II was one of the few who touch me dearest in my heart. I am a christian, but he was a true saint and no one can deny it becuase his faith alone was his life. However his life was filled with love and forgivenss. Ghandi was the greatest figure of his time and Martin Lurther King Jr of his time, but John Paul II was the greatest figure of his time. However I believe he is the greatest figure in the Catholic history since Jesus...

  3. My country (Philippines) had been visited by important personalities for the past decades, personalities such as: The Beatles, Pres. George Bush, Kobe Bryant, Prince Charles just to name a few. But Pope John Paul II or rather Blessed John Paul II is the MOST LOVED and the MOST UNFORGETTABLE visitor my country has ever had. Filipino catholics really really really love him, and we're looking forward to his beatification, we're very excited!

  4. God in His deepest mystery is not a Solitude, but a family, since He has in Himself fatherhood, sonship and the essence of the family, which is love. This subject of the family is not, therefore, extraneous to the subject of the Holy Spirit.—1979, John Paul II, Puebla: A Jouney of Faith, Boston, MA, Daughter of St Paul, p86

  5. I was born during Pope John Paul II's pontificate. I admired, admire and I will admire him for ever. He was really a father of prayer, love and mission. I was proud of being among the youth whom John Paul II said he loved for they are the hope of the Church. May God give me life so that I witness his canonization.
