Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa: On Peace

"The world will never be the dwelling place of peace till peace has found a home in the heart of each and every person, till every person preserves in himself the order ordained by God to be preserved. "

~ Pope John Paul II (Pacem in Terris)

"May the family so live in peace that from it peace may spread throughout the whole human family!"
~ Pope John Paul II

"But freedom is not merely a right that one claims for oneself. It is also a duty that one undertakes with regard to others. If it is really to serve peace, the freedom of each human individual and each community must respect the freedoms and rights of other individuals and communities."
~ Pope John Paul II

"Peace is a good to be promoted with good: it is a good for individuals, for families, for nations and for all humanity; yet it is one which needs to be maintained and fostered by decisions and actions inspired by good.".
~ Pope John Paul II

"The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.

~ Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies."

~ Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush; anxious for greater developments and greater wishes and so on; so that children have very little time for their parents; Parents have very little time for each other; and the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world."
~ Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. "
~ Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

"Every act of love is a work of peace, no matter how small."
~ Blessed Mother Teresa

"Peace begins with a smile - smile a hundred times a day at someone you don't really feel like smiling at - do it for peace. In this way we will spread the peace of God, and in this way we will shine with His light, and in the world and in the hearts of men we will snuff out all hatred and all love of power."
~ Blessed Mother Teresa

  1. I have the quote by Mother Teresa on my kitchen wall, "Peace begins with a smile"! She is a wonderful Saint! My little Mary Teresa has her for a patron.
Yesterday my son Jeff turned 18. Mary Magdalene is his patron! I asked her to pray for a vocation to the brothers for Jeff. He is a lost soul these days.

  2. Blessed Mother Teresa has always been a favorite of mine. She had such a deep love for others. In the midst of her own pain and hardships, she persevered in caring for the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of others.

I will pray for Jeff, too, Sandy.

    God bless you,
    Jean
