The Heart of St. John Vianney to Travel to Boston, New York for Veneration

BOSTON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The Archdiocese of Boston is bringing the heart of a 19th-century French clergyman to the United States to inspire more men to become priests.

The Boston Globe says the heart of St. John Marie Baptiste Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, will be brought to New York and Boston for veneration and prayer.

Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley told the newspaper the relic is being brought to Boston "in the hope that his life and deeds will be an inspiration to our parish priests and an inspiration to others to consider whether they are being called to serve as priests in our parishes."

I am so happy to see the heart of St. John Vianney being brought to the east coast where it is so desperately needed at this time. St. John Vianney was such a good, holy, humble, and dedicated servant of God.

On this Good Friday at Holy Mass, the priest asked that we make acts of Penance and reparation for those priests who have abused others and have fallen away. He also asked that we offer our Holy Communion for them. They have deeply offended the Sacred Heart of Jesus and we need to pray for them and make acts of reparation in atonement for the offenses that have hurt Our Dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
