An In-House Miracle - Updated

I normally watch House about twice a year, but since I have been sick at home and have had little energy to do much of anything, I told my dh Bill to keep it on as the show looked interesting. It was the most pro-life program I have ever watched on TV and was very appealing. My eyes were glued to the screen. I was making comments (which I rarely do while watching TV) and was cheering on the mother, Dr. Lisa Cuddy, and especially the baby.

Here is how Fox describes this episode:

PHOTOGRAPHER'S UNBORN CHILD ENDANGERS HER HEALTH, THE TEAM MUST TAKE ACTION BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE TO SAVE EITHER OF THEM ON "HOUSE" TUESDAY, APRIL 3, ON FOX

Anne Ramsay and Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects)

Guest-Star A famous, 42-year-old, pregnant photographer, Emma Sloan (guest star Anne Ramsay), is brought to the hospital after suffering a stroke in the middle of a high-profile photo shoot with Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects). Although Emma's condition initially stabilizes, her health takes a turn for the worse when her kidneys inexplicably fail. As her health continues to deteriorate, Emma is more concerned about her baby's well-being than her own. With no other viable explanation for the kidney failure, House realizes Emma may have a rare condition called Maternal Mirror Syndrome, in which the mother's health mimics the distress level of her fetus.

Meanwhile, Cameron and Chase's secret relationship is exposed to Foreman and Cuddy, and House makes extravagant plans to take a much-needed vacation. House calls Cuddy on the fact she's taken a special interest in the case as she identifies with Emma's struggle to have a child later in life, but her compassion for Emma may be clouding her judgment in the case. When Emma's liver begins to fail, House presents her with the heart-wrenching choice to terminate her fetus or die herself. But with Cuddy on her side, Emma demands they come up with another option an option that may not exist. With Cuddy and House at odds over how to handle her case, Emma faces a life-and-death situation for both herself and her unborn child in the "Fetal Position." [End of Fox Description]

House insists on calling the baby "fetus" and pressures the mom to get rid of the "tumor" which is playing havoc with her body until he realizes that he must do surgery on the baby. During surgery, the tiny finger latches onto his and he is in awe of the human life that he is saving. I am so thankful to Fox for this wonderful program and for sharing the truth with all of their audience.

The acting was superb and this episode was heart-warming.

Did anyone else watch this amazing program last night?

*** Update Via LifesiteNews:

Many pro-life viewers are likely aware that the surgery depicted, and the riveting moment of contact between the child and the doctor, is a re-enactment of a real life surgery that saved the life of Samuel Armas, whose spina bifida was repaired by doctors at Nashville 's Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1999. The photo of Samuel’s tiny hand grasping his doctor’s finger has become an icon of the human nature of the unborn.

Numerous online chatroom comments and viewer editorials concur that the child reaching out and grasping the doctor’s finger is one of TV’s most memorable moments. The episode will re-air tonight on the Fox network.

  2. I am not sure, but since Season 1 and 2 both have DVD's, I'm sure that they'll have a DVD on Season 3, also. I haven't done a search on Google or youtube or anywhere else online, so that might be an option.
